O.W.L.s 2020 Readathon|Midway Update

If you know nothing about the O.W.L.S Readathon you can check out my O.W.L.S Readathon TBR post.

I wasn’t able to accomplish as much as I was hoping for this past weekend and week! I had a great start and was hoping that by halfway through the month I would have completed the majority of my subjects. Since I didn’t make progress I figured I would still share what my weekend plans are and the next ones I am hoping to start!

Wizarding Career

Completed Ordinary Wizarding Level Examinations

CharmsLumos Maxima: White Cover

A Short History of a Girl Next Door by Jared Reck

I found this book to be heartbreaking and beautiful. It was written with so much humor and relatable. Matt was a fantastic character that I feel in love with and shared his pain. The ending brought upon a light of hope that I think we all need to be reminded about.

PotionsShrinking Solution: Book Under 150 pages

It Calls Me- An Anthology by Katie Coughran

I ended up reading a different book for this challenge. I read Gail’s Family by Ruby Dixon which is the fourth book/novella in the Icehome series. This was an adorable story and one I have been waiting for since we first got introduced to Gail. It was fun to get an older womans perspective on this situation that all these human woman have found themselves in.

TransfigurationAnimagus Lecture: Book/Series That Includes Shapeshifting

The Demon Prince by Ann Aguirre

I also chose another book for this prompt. I had a review copy of Shift Out Of Luck by Abigail Owen, which is about to wolf shifters. It is the second book in a new series full of paranormal beings! This is an enemies to lovers, marriage of convenience paranormal romance! It has a great fierce and sassy female character and a male who is just too great!

This Weekend Reading Plans (April 17th-April 19th)

HerbologyMimbulus Mimbletonia: Title Starts With a M

Moonlight Sins by Jennifer L Armentrout

Currently I am about halfway through this book and have 200 pages left to read. I am still kind of unsure how I feel about this book. I am intruiged by the male characters, enjoy the main characters interactions but dont believe they have enough. Also I am quite interested to see where JLA takes this story. I have a prediction of what will happen, but not sure.

ArithmancyMagical qualities of number 2: balance opposites – read something outside your favorite genre

We Unleash the Merciless Storm by Tehlor Kay Mejia or No Exit by Taylor Adams

I had started We Unleash the Merciless Storm, which is the sequel to We Set the Dark On Fire by Tehlor Kay Mejia, a f/f latinx fantasy. I adored the first book and was living for that relationship, the class structure and governement/society is interesting to me. I’m not hating this one, but I am waiting for the f/f relationship to reappear, which I was told happens.

I borrowed this as an audiobook from my library and it expired, I am number 1 on the list and should have it back this weekend, if not I have also started No Exit. Being a mystery/thriller, it is one of my favorite genres when done well, but paranormal/urban fantasy is my fav!

April 20th-24th

I am hoping by this point I have completed both herbology and arithmancy, which would leave only Defense Against the Dark Arts !

Defense Against the Dark Arts- Grindylows: book set at the sea/coast

The book I originally was planning to read was Half A King by Joe Abercrombie for this challenge. I ‘m not sure I am totally in the mood right now for this book so I am not sure what other books I have that fit this challenge. I might pick up the next book in the Icehome series by Ruby Dixon, Hannah’s Hero which is set on an ice planet near a strange ocean type thing!

  1. You are doing really well! I wish you the best of luck for the reminder of the readathon! I am doing Seer, I met all three of my required OWLs, am now working on the bonus ones. I am hoping to do the training for Magical Shop Management and Animagus as well.
