Learn About Your Blogger: Reading Edition

  • 1. Favorite childhood book?   Alice in Wonderland – Lewis Carroll
  • 2. What are you reading right now?   Aquifer – Jonathan Friesen
  • 3. What books do you have on request at the library? I love the library but I do not use it.
  • 4. Bad book habit?  I have a buying book addiction. I am always on Amazon
  • 5. What do you currently have checked out at the library? Nothing
  • 6. Do you have an e-reader? I have the Kindle app on my phone and computer
  • 7. Do you prefer to read one book at a time, or several at once? I prefer to read one at a time but I always seem to be reading more than one book at once.
  • 8. Have your reading habits changed since starting a blog? I try to read more and make more time in my busy schedule for reading.
  • 9. Least favourite book you read this year (so far)? Dead River- Cyn Balog (it hasn’t even been a month into the year so this could change, because I didn’t completely hate this book)
  • 10. Favorite book you’ve read this year? Cinder- Marissa Meyer
  • 11. How often do you read out of your comfort zone? I try to do this as much as possible. I love reading new things and trying to get into new genres and broaden my horizons.
  • 12. What is your reading comfort zone? I read a lot of YA- mainly fantasy/sci-fi
  • 13. Can you read on the bus? Not very well, I get extremely motion sick.
  • 14. Favorite place to read? Everywhere! I love reading outside and by the lake, but I also enjoy curling up on the couch with my kitten.
  • 15. What is your policy on book lending? I don’t do it. There is a select few, meaning like two people that this happens for.
  • 16. Do you ever dog-ear books? Absolutely not! That is why they made bookmarks!
  • 17. Do you ever write in the margins of your books? Not in novels, but textbooks and stuff for school I do.
  • 18. Not even with text books? I most definitely write in textbooks because taking notes takes too long.
  • 19. What is your favourite language to read in? English, mainly because that is the only language I can really read in. Sarcasm is also a very good language!
  • 20. What makes you love a book? There are many different qualities that can make me fall in love. The storyline, the characters, the way in which the author writes, the world building, the cover! I am very picky about book endings.
  • 21. What will inspire you to recommend a book? It would depend on the person I am recommending it to, but I have to be in love with it. Something that i would read over and over.
  • 22. Favorite genre? YA fantasy/sci-fi/dystopia
  • 23. Genre you rarely read (but wish you did)? Non-fiction, biographies- they are so interesting and you learn so much about the person and what made them the way they were. You can learn a lot from the dead.
  • 24. Favourite biography? I do not believe I have ever truly read a biography, but I own some and would love to make time for them.
  • 25. Have you ever read a self-help book? Nope
  • 26. Favourite cookbook? Anything dealing with cupcakes! I love baking and especially cupcakes. Besides wishing I could become a writer, I would love to own a bakery.
  • 27. Most inspirational book you’ve read this year (fiction or non-fiction)? It is not even a month into this year so I haven’t read anything yet that I could claim is inspirational, but last year it would have to be A Long Way Gone- Ishmael Beah
  • 28. Favorite reading snack? I usually read in bed or before I go to sleep, but I love drinking lattes, and hot cocoa while I read.
  • 29. Name a case in which hype ruined your reading experience. It has been more of an after effect. The Divergent and Hunger Game Series. I read them well before  the movies were a possibility and fell in love with the series but with the movies so much hype has come about and people talk about them and haven’t even read the books.
  • 30. How often do you agree with critics about a book? It just depends, sometimes it is spot on and sometimes the critics and I have very different opinions.
  • 31. How do you feel about giving bad/negative reviews? It depends on how horrible the book was, but sometimes I feel bad and its like I am telling the book personally that it sucks and should go jump off a cliff.
  • 32. If you could read in a foreign language, which language would you chose? One of the romantic languages, they just sound better.
  • 33. Most intimidating book you’ve ever read? I don’t really know the answer to this one. Probably Anna Karenina, maybe because I still haven’t finished it and it has been over 2 years, but I love it!
  • 34. Most intimidating book you’re too nervous to begin? Les Mis
  • 35. Favorite Poet? Edgar Allen Poe
  • 36. How many books do you usually have checked out of the library at any given time? I haven’t been to the library in awhile besides for research papers. The last time I checked out books I had checked out seven.
  • 37. How often have you returned books to the library unread? Never, unless its for a research project
  • 38. Favorite fictional character? Too many to pick just one (I know this is a lame answer)

  • 40. Books I’m most likely to bring on vacation? Anything I own that has made its way to the top of my reading list.
  • 41. The longest I’ve gone without reading. maybe a month or two
  • 42. Name a book that you could/would not finish. I am against not finishing a book, but Arena One- Morgan Rice was a close one
  • 43. What distracts you easily when you’re reading? Everything, I have a very short attention span
  • 44. Favorite film adaptation of a novel? One of the ones most recently that I thought did a good job was the Hunger Games, but I am very picky about books made movies
  • 45. Most disappointing film adaptation? City of Bones- Clarissa Clare and all the Twilight Movies
  • 46. The most money I’ve ever spent in the bookstore at one time? Well since I do most of my shopping for books online (even though I love nothing more than hanging out in the bookstore. They are cheaper online) I just spent $50
  • 47. How often do you skim a book before reading it? I don’t skim books
  • 48. What would cause you to stop reading a book half-way through? Life, it seems to get in the way a lot.
  • 49. Do you like to keep your books organized? I don’t have enough room for all of my books so there are piles all over my apartment.
  • 50. Do you prefer to keep books or give them away once you’ve read them? KEEP THEM! I hope to one day have a library with floor to ceiling bookshelves
  • 51. Are there any books you’ve been avoiding? Not on purpose, I just have so many and not enough time
  • 52. Name a book that made you angry. Well that depends on what you mean by angry.
  • 53. A book you didn’t expect to like but did? Waiting For the Barbarians
  • 54. A book that you expected to like but didn’t? The Hunt
  • 55. Favorite guilt-free, pleasure reading? Trashy High School Romance reading with the fantasy and sic-fi twist, not that 50 shades of Grey shit.
