Third Sentence Thursday

The Program by Suzanne Young

“But he couldn’t save Brady-neither of us could.”

I couldn’t have randomly opened the book and stumbled upon a better third sentence. I am not all the way done with this book, but this sentence conveys the attitude of the main character. In a world with a suicide epidemic and one must hide emotions, everyone is so riddled with regret, guilt and the need to be able to protect and save their loved ones.

(Take any book you are reading and flick to a random page. Share the third full sentence from that page with the blogosphere as a “taster” of the book! You can also share your thoughts about the sentence (does it affect the novel? did you like the language used? was it so short that it adds suspense?) It’s a fun, fast way to offer your readers a ‘snapshot’ of a particular book.)
