Friday Reads {9/26}

Untitled design-11
I am currently participating in the  Falling For Autumn Read-A-Thon! I have been super 6587879busy this week and not able to get as much reading done as I would have hoped for, but isnt that always the case. I am currently reading Horns by Joe Hill.  I am about a third of the way through and not sure how I feel about it. I really like the first 20 pages, but I am unsure on the turn the book is taking, I will have to see how it continues. I am also listening to World After by Susan Ee. This is the second book in the Penryn & the End of Days series. I read the first one (Angelfall) earlier this year and wasn’t totally in love with it. I am finding this book hard to listen to and follow along. I really want to like it because so many people are always raving about Angelfall by Susan Ee. I am going to continue listening to it because I really don’t want to DNF it. I also need to start Love and Other Unknown Variables by Shannon Lee Alexander. I received this for review and it comes out in about a week or so. I have heard some good things about it and I am excited to get it started!

  1. Horns was one of the books we chose this year for our “book club”. My friend had started reading it and then put it down (she chose it hoping to get around to finishing it.) She said the same thing that it was just hard to get into. I have yet to get around to the library to check it out.

    As for my weekend…mostly working and maybe some football! I just finished The Scorch Trials by James Dashner and can’t decide what to read next. I think I want to take a break from the series so I don’t just run myself ragged with it, ya know?

    Anyways! Happy Friday 🙂 Have a good day!

  2. I picked up Horns quite some time ago, and like you I found it started out interest, then really didn’t keep my attention…. Will have to go back to it at some point, but right now I simply don’t have time. I have a ton of books to catch up on. I am supposed to listen to “Eternal Hunt” by Lucas McWillams for Audiobook Monthly, but I am barely into it and the “hero” is already on my last nerve. Misogynist jackweed, banging every woman in his path…. it reads (listens) like every teenage boy’s wet dream. Ugh. Going to get to “O’Henry” by Terry Brown, and hope to also finish that gacky McWilliams book so I can get the review done (banging head on wall) but my weekend is mostly going to be getting edits done!
