I believe that 2019 is going to be the year for me when it comes to my blog. I have been blogging for almost 6 years, but the actual blog posting and development was never a main focus for me. It has always been more about the books and the reading, which for me is one of the reasons I started blogging in the first place. But after the past couple years between traveling a lot and the change of jobs/locations, I finally feel more settled and that I have more time to dedicate to building up my blog. As part of my little blog series New Year Planning I thought it would be good to discuss my goals and plans for my blog in 2019!
With the year will be coming a new look for my blog. I have decided to go self-hosted and have chosen BlueHost as the platform to create the new version of Falling Down The Book Hole. I have been working the past couple of weeks on developing and making the blog something fun and refreshed. Now this is not going to happen overnight and I didn’t want to go through 6 years of posts to update/change them. I have gone through and cleaned up some data and started to work on reorganizing pages/posts/widgets etc. I have also considered going through and archiving some posts that I did at the very beginning as well as redoing book reviews.
Talking about book reviews and posts I figured it was time to start actually making a plan. When it comes to book reviews I find it hard to write a review for every book I read. I do not always have something to say or enough to say about a book. I think book reviews are a big part of having a book blog so they are still going to exist but I am going to change the way and which ones are done. I also found that by doing blogmas and planning ahead really helped motivate me and showed some great response on my blog. I do not think I have it in me to make a post everyday like I did during blogmas, but I would like to create a post schedule and stick to it in order to have some consistency. I have been keeping an ongoing list of blog ideas, I keep them in the notes app on my phone so wherever I am I can make sure to write it down. Doing this has allowed me to start to have a better direction and feel less pressured when it comes to posting. I want to be putting out fun and engaging posts, that people actually want to read and find intriguing.
As well as a new platform, theme and posting schedule I have started to make my social media more accessible and interactive. Twitter, Instagram and Pintrest are really big ways that I use to direct traffic to my blog. I want to work on more research on blog/social media development as well as more about SEO and possibly some coding as well.
I love blogging and appreciate all that running this blog has done for me. It allows for me to connect with others that share the same interests as me and helps me to discover new and awesome books and products. There is still a long way to go with where I would like it to be and I know dedicating more time on the blog with take away from reading and netflix time, but if I could make a job out of blogging I would so do it. It gives me a chance to express my creativity, be able to write and share my love of books with others!

Looks like a really great plan. I re working my blogs as well for the new year and working on a schedule for my book blog. Have a great New year!📒
I’m still nailing down my specific 2019 goals, but I think reading some ARCs will definitely be a part of it. I want to make sure I’m reading new books alongside the older ones I pick up.
Awesome goals – good luck! Also, I wish you luck going self hosted. I am way too scared to try that myself.
I was so scared but just had to take the leap
These are some great reviews and i look for to seeing what you bring in 2019 🙂
Thanks ☺️
You’re welcome 🙂
