July 2018 Reads | First Lines

I decided that it would be fun to start a new feature to add the the wrap up of books I read every month. For me most of the time I pick up and look at books in the store it is the first lines that capture my attention and draw me in. It has always been intriguing to me the amount of thought that must go into those first words the author decides to but as the introduction to their work. The first lines are your first impression of the book.
Bitten by Kelley Armstrong
“I have to.”
Asa by Jay Crownover
“Not too long ago when I watched a girl purposely get as drunk as this pretty one did, I would’ve moved in for the kill.”
Since You’ve Been Gone by Morgan Matson
“The list had arrived after Sloane had been gone two weeks.”
Built by Jay Crownover
“I met her at a bar.”
Rush by Kandi Steiner
“Palm South University. A small, private college tucked away in a shady haven right near the beach just south of Miami.”
Leah on the Offbeat by Becky Albertalli
“I don’t mean to be dramatic, but God save me from Morgan picking our set list.”
To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han
“Josh is Margot’s boyfriend, but I guess you could say my whole family is a little in love with him.”
P.S I Still Love You by Jenny Han
“Dear Peter, I miss you.”
