This week’s topic is Books as Event Themes

Who doesn’t like a good party? And what is better than a book themed party.

♣ Harry Potter Series by J.K Rowling

This is a given right. No explanation needed.

♣ Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll

Also another given. I am obsessed with this book and it would make for an awesome tea party right?

♣ The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald

I was not a huge fan of this book but the 20s flapper scene makes for an awesome costume party!

♣ The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood

I figured with the recent tv show on hulu and everything going on in the world it would make for a really interesting party.

♣ Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs

There are a lot of peculiar people in the world and a lot of interesting options for how to handle a great party like this.

♣ World War Z by Max Brooks

I mean come on zombies! What makes for a better party then the living dead.

What are some of your top books as event themes?

This week’s topic is Favorite Angsty Romances

One of my deep guilty pleasure reads are some good angsty romance books. I feel like even within the angsty romance category there are many different sub-genres. So these books might not totally qualify as the typical angsty, but they fall into my category of it.

♣ Dark Lover by J.R Ward

♣ Rule by Jay Crownover

♣ Volition by Lily Paradis

♣ White Hot Kiss by Jennifer L. Armentrout

♣ Reason To Breathe by Rebecca Donovan

This week’s topic is Books You Want to Finally Read in 2017

There are so many books that I have been creating monthly TBRs or writing down that I want to read forever and just haven’t gotten to them. I really want 2017 to be that year that I get to those dusty books sitting on my TBR.

♣ Republic of Thieves by Scott Lynch

2890090

This book I have been putting off for awhile waiting for the 4th book in the series to be released. I love this series and miss it.

♣ Bloodlines by Richelle Mead

8709527

After I finished the Vampire Academy series I wanted to jump right into this series, but didn’t want to let go of the series. I think it is time to pick this up and read it because I miss the world and the characters.

♣ Jet by Jay Crownover

17204860

I started this series last year and would love to continue it before I move on with the Saints of Denver series.

♣ City of Blades by Robert Jackson Bennett

23909755

I received this for review at the beginning of the year and I have still not picked it up. I was so excited for it and somehow it kept getting put off. I need to review it and submit so I can receive more review books.

♣ Notorious RBG by Irin Carmon and Shana Knizhnik

25422234

I bought this at the very beginning of the year. RBG is my hero and I think she is an amazing woman. I need to get on reading this ASAP!

What books do you finally want to get around to reading in 2017?

Top 5 Wednesday |Characters You Used to Love but Don’t Anymore

TOP 5 WEDNESDAY

This week’s topic is  Characters You Used to Love but Don’t Anymore

{These are the characters who you used to adore, but now you don’t. Maybe they changed a lot. Maybe you outgrew them. Maybe your outlook changed and now you can’t stand them. Maybe you don’t even hate them, you just are neutral about them when you used to run a fan blog about them.}

Warner from the Shatter Me Trilogy

Not that I still don’t have a special place in my heart for Warner, but I have read many more books and have found new loves in the fictional crushes categories.

♦ Adam Parrish from The Raven Cycle

This was more of an as I read the second book. I loved Adam in the first one and still enjoy him but just do not love him as much as I did at first.

Tris from Divergent Trilogy

I thought that Tris was a strong independent leading female. She slowly lost my love and I know despise her.

This is also another hard one for me. I feel like there are not many characters I do not like anymore, but there are ones that throughout the series I have lost my love for certain characters.

Who are some characters you used to love but dont anymore?

Top 5 Wednesday | Most Misleading Synopses

This week’s topic is Most Misleading Synopses

Significance by Shelly Crane

11731861

When I read this synopsis it sounded so intriguing to me. I had to force myself through reading this and gave up on the last 20 pages. Being a paranormal romance I had preconceived notions, but it definitely fell into the Twilight category.

Of Monsters and Madness by Jessica Verday

19507564

This is another synopsis that had me so intrigued and wanting more. It failed big time. It stated that it was a retelling of gothic horror featuring Annabelle Lee from Edgar Allen Poe which is one of my favorites. The only way it was really incorporated was with the name.

The Girl From The Well by Rin Chupeco

Screen Shot 2014-04-08 at 3.38.38 PM

This synopsis lead me to believe it would go in a totally different direction then it did. I thought it would be a creepy horror story, but did not read as such for me.

Dead River by Cyn Balog

9774362

This is another book I thought would be a horror story. The synopsis was short but it lead me to believe there would be killers or ghosts. It went a totally different way then I thought it would.

This was a difficult one for me to complete. I haven’t read a lot of books lately that have had synopsis that misguided me. I had to look through my read book list and look at synopses.

What are some books that have had the most misleading synopses?

Top 5 Wednesday | Favorite Buzz Words

TOP 5 WEDNESDAY

This week’s topic is Favorite Buzz Words!

(words used to describe a book that is a guarantee buy for you)

Epic Fantasy”

I absolutely love fantasy books and when it is taglined or said to be an epic fantasy I cannot wait to pick it up to read.

♠ “New, dark take on Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland”

Anything dealing with Alice in Wonderland is a seller for me, especially when it is a dark take!

♠”  Audacious criminals, confident tricksters, heists, thieves”

Anything that mentions criminals, thieves and heists are books that I cannot wait to get my hands on. They are usually action packed and full of humor.

♠ Princesses/Queens, Assassins, Royal Kingdom

I am a girl to the core and anything that deals with princess, pretty dresses knights in shinning armor, kingdoms, hired assassins and fairy tales are a go to.

♠ “Beautifully twisted, Dark madness”

I am always a fan of the dark and twisted and especially dark humor. May make me a little strange, but there is always something great about a book that doesn’t have happy endings or what you expect. Things that seem to be a little darker have a place in my heart.
