2018 Bookish Bucket List | June Update

Here goes year 4 doing this! And I think this is going to be the year I actually complete my bookish bucket list! I really want to throw myself back into the book community and blogging world, the past few years have been a little tough to get the reading done and last year I set high goals, but came up short.

♠ Read at least 75 books.
[I have brought my read count up to 29 (with 1 DNF) this past month. I am a little under my goal for having just finished the halfway point of the year.]

♠ Read and Complete 10 Series.
[ I have completed 2 series so far! And I am 1 book away from another one! ]

♠ Read at least 6 BIG books. This is a repeat from last year.I feel like I am always so intrigued and interested in the huge books, but never get around to reading them because they are intimidating. (I am counting this as over 500 pages.)
[I am currently reading one right now! I plan on tackling at least 1 a month]

♠ Read 50 books from my TBR (#beatthebacklist)
[ So this is like a double because not all the books I read for #beatthebacklist are from my TBR. ]

TBR: 14   #Beatthebacklist: 26

♠ Read at least 5 Non-Fiction Books.
[I have such a long list of nonfiction books I want to read I just need to start it or I never will]

♠ Post 3 Reviews a Month.
[ I have fallen really behind on this. I have been trying to focus more time on reading with the free time I have and just write reviews for books I have a lot of thoughts on or I am reviewing.]

♠ Create or Join A Book Club.
[ I am joining Crone Blogger Book Club online, but have not been able to read a book with them yet!]

♠ Create my Own Read-A-Thon.  I want to create something that will become a yearly thing and go along with my blogiversary!
[ That happened in Feb! Check out the announcement post for my Down The Read-A-Thon Hole Challenge| Alice in Wonderland themed Read-A-Thon]

What are some of your 2018 goals/resolutions? How are you doing on them?

Top 5 Wednesday | Books Featuring Shapeshifters

TOP 5 WEDNESDAY

Top 5 Wednesday was created by Lainey from gingerreadslainey (YouTube, Goodreads) and if you would like to join, here is the link for the Goodreads group with all the information.

This week’s topic is Books Featuring [Paranormal Creature of your choice]- Shapeshifter

I have recently really gotten into urban fantasy. I always loved it, but it has been the genre I am currently drawn to. I am a huge fan of werewolves (along with my love of Teen wolf!) I just wasn’t able to find enough books that contained werewolves that I have read. So I thought it would be fun to do shapeshifters, since werewolves are technically considered that as well!

♦ Moon Called by Patricia Briggs (or really any in the Mercy Thompson series!) walker (coyote), werewolves

♦ The Seventh Friend by Tim Stead

Unknown

♦ Soulless by Gail Carriger
werewolf

♦ The Dark Elements Trilogy by Jennifer L Armentrout
gargoyle

What are some of your favorite shapeshifters? Or paranormal creatures?

Top 5 Wednesday | Books Without Romance

TOP 5 WEDNESDAY

Top 5 Wednesday was created by Lainey from gingerreadslainey (YouTube, Goodreads) and if you would like to join, here is the link for the Goodreads group with all the information.

This week’s topic is Books Without Romance

I am always in search of good YA without a main focus being the romance. It is a really hard thing to find, but there are quite a few good ones that have little to no romance.

♣ This Savage Song by Victoria Schwab
♣ Odd & True by Cat Winters

♣ The Cruelty by Scott Bergstrom

♣ Between Shades of Grey by Ruta Sepetys

♣ Because You’ll Never Meet Me by Leah Thomas

What are some of your favorite YA books with little to no romance ?
