Synopsis:
In the hidden dragon sanctuary of Wyrmroost, Celebrant the Just, King of the Dragons, plots his revenge. He has long seen the sanctuaries as prisons, and he wants nothing more than to overthrow his captors and return the world to the Age of Dragons, when he and his kind ruled and reigned without borders. The time has come to break free and reclaim his power.
No one person is capable of stopping Celebrant and his dragon horde. It will take the ancient order of Dragonwatch to gather again if there is any chance of saving the world from destruction. In ancient times, Dragonwatch was a group of wizards, enchantresses, dragon slayers, and others who originally confined the majority of dragons into sanctuaries. But nearly all of the original Dragonwatch members are gone, and so the wizard Agad reaches out to Grandpa Sorenson for help.
As Kendra and Seth confront this new danger, they must draw upon all their skills, talents, and knowledge as only they have the ability to function together as a powerful dragon tamer. Together they must battle against forces with superior supernatural powers and breathtaking magical abilities.
How will the epic dragon showdown end? Will dragons overthrow humans and change the world as we know it?

You do not want to miss this fantastic continuation to the magical and adventurous Fablehaven series. Brandon Mull does not disappoint with this first installation in his new spin-off series. Following up with the beloved characters, Kendra and Seth and the events that took place in Keys to the Demon Prison, the last book in the Fablehaven series.
“Disliking someone is almost as big a commitment as loving someone, and it carries none of the benefits.”
Although I felt that Mull had brought Fablehaven to a great end, there was so much room to expand the magical hidden world he had created. Of course I was left wanting more because I fell in love with the series and could not believe I waited so long to read it. It has become one of my favorite MG/YA fantasy series.
If you have not already read the Fablenhaven series by Brandon Mull you should stop reading this review and check out my post:
5 Reasons to Read the Fablehaven Series by Brandon Mull
Now back to my thoughts and opinions on Dragonwatch.
Mull explored more of the world and creatures he introduced in his original series and for me it was definitely what I wanted more of from the Fablehaven series. We did not get much on the Dragons or the sanctuary of Wyrmroost. The fourth book in the original series, Secrets of the Dragon Sanctuary, was when we were first introduced. There were so many short cameos and creatures mentioned, but in this book Mull really developed this sanctuary and world. It was layered with suspense as more issues are presented that siblings Kendra and Seth must handle.
“You have some serious psychological issues.”
“Does that mean I’m logical to psychos?”
“Probably.”
“At least somebody gets me.”
― Brandon Mull, Dragonwatch
The dragons were really a main element in this book and I loved seeing what Mull did with them and their story. They all have such different personalities and abilities. They brought so much to this world that Mull has crafted. Mull does a fantastic job developing the plot and creating such thrilling obstacles for the characters to face.
Kendra and Seth have come such a long way from when they first found out about the hidden sanctuaries that house the mystical and magical creatures. I love how they are developing and the direction Mull is taking them with their own abilities they have acquired throughout their time in Fablehaven.
Overall I love the writing style of Mull and the humor he uses in his writing. He has such a vivid imagination and uses his words to create such an amazing and visual world that you become so immersed in. It is such a quick paced read with tons of action, magic and adventure. I cannot wait to see what he does with this series!
