So I was trying to think of something to post today and thought I would switch it up and do a discussion post. If you follow my blog you might have seen that I have been hinting to the fact that I might not be around a lot in the coming months and will be on a bit of an unfortunate hiatus from my blog (more to come on this topic in the next few weeks). With that being said I have been trying to schedule out posts and pre-plan for some of the time that I will away. Now if you blog you know how much of a task this is and I have found myself struggling a little.
This has led me to thinking about a couple different things. The thought of having a co-blogger has been thrown around a little, but I really don’t want to have to share my blog. I started this blog for myself and really want to keep it to be my own thing. But the problem that has presented itself is that I love interacting with other bloggers and highly enjoy all the other things that come along with having a blog (new friends, recommendations, learning new things etc) I am so thankful for all that has come from my blog and really appreciate everyone’s love. I am just afraid that all I have worked so hard this past year to create will disappear because of my current situation. That has caused me to play around with the idea of having some guest posting throughout my time away.
I really wanted to know peoples opinions about this. I know I have been doing a book blogger shout-out feature (which I really enjoy and love to see others blogging styles and creative posts!) but I am wondering if it would be weird to have post from other people on my blog instead of post from me. (It is also a bit of an internal struggle going along with what I said early about this being my own blog I created for myself and I don’t want to lose my personality etc. in my blog) The other problem I struggle with this is finding people that are willing to create and give me posts within the next month that might not be posted until a few months from now.
Basically I just need some outside advice because I am kind of stuck with what to do. So any advice or suggestions you have to offer would be greatly appreciated or any ideas for blog posts I can do!

I think that it would be fun to do guest posts. One day, when I was super busy I texted my friend to do a book review on one of her favourite books, and that I would post it the next day! I think that that would be super cool!
I love guest posts and think they are a great addition to blogs. I’m just worried that posting only a fee times a month with a lot of post that aren’t mine will turn people away from my blog. Am I just being crazy and paranoid ? Haha
PARANOID! I think that it would definitley attract more followers! By the way, I can post something on your blog for you (as a guest, if you’d like)!
That would be awesome! You wouldnt mind that it wont be posted until maybe march or april?
No, of course not! Just email me: readingreadingreading@outlook.com!
This sounds like a good idea. I’d love to guest post on your blog and would equally love you to post on mine. I love interacting with other bloggers however I am sometimes a bit too awkward to actually do it.
That would be amazing! And who isnt awkward from time to time 🙂 would you mind that your guest post might not get posted until march or april?
Not at all, I still think it would be really cool! X
Do you have an email I can reach you at?
Yes, it’s embridyard@gmail.com
It sounds like a great idea! It would definitely be a good way to keep your blog going if you can’t post and stop it from becoming dormant in the next few months. If you need a guest post, I’d be happy to help and do one! My email is lauraew333@gmail.com 😀
My thoughts on this: Don’t do the guest blogging thing if you are not completely comfortable with having other people writing for your blog. If you do it, make sure you state some guidelines of what you want the posts to feel like, so it is still your blog.
I’ve learned in the almost 3 years I’ve been blogging that if you can’t blog, then don’t blog. Quality is more important than quantity. If your readers know that you will be away, we will appreciate and enjoy reading the few posts you get to publish during your time away. Filling up a blog with content just for the fact of having content is what makes a blog lose its personality IMHO.
Know that at least for me, I won’t mind if you don’t update your blog as much as you have when you go away. I will keep coming to read whenever you post. And hope that whatever keeps you from blogging passes by quickly so you can come back recharged and full of blogging ideas. 😉
Thank you very much for the advice and encouragement! It means a lot.
I like featuring guest posts from Authors. I’ve never considered doing a guest post by another blogger, but that isn’t a bad idea at all! I think it would be kinda neat, and it would increase traffic to your blog because there would be one more person to promote/share the post all over THEIR social media. 😀
Good luck!
I did guest posts for all of Banned Books week, and it was fun! Brought a bunch of new people to the blog too :). As long as it isn’t in May/June, count me in!
The good thing about guest posts is that you get to meet new people – and your readers do as well. 😉
I agree- guest posts would be awesome! 🙂
