Synopsis:
If high school is all about social status, Indigo Blackwood has it made. Sure, her quirky mom owns an occult shop, and a nerd just won’t stop trying to be her friend, but Indie is a popular cheerleader with a football-star boyfriend and a social circle powerful enough to ruin everyone at school. Who wouldn’t want to be her? Then a guy dies right before her eyes. And the dusty old family Bible her mom is freakishly possessive of is stolen. But it’s when a frustratingly sexy stranger named Bishop enters Indie’s world that she learns her destiny involves a lot more than pom-poms and parties. If she doesn’t get the Bible back, every witch on the planet will die. And that’s seriously bad news for Indie ,because according to Bishop, she’s a witch too. Suddenly forced into a centuries-old war between witches and sorcerers, Indie’s about to uncover the many dark truths about her life—and a future unlike any she ever imagined on top of the cheer pyramid.
*I would like to thank Netgalley for this as an e-arc in return for an honest review.*
Given the tag line The Craft meets Bring It On , I was intrigued, but a little hesitant. I was happily surprised with Hexed! I have to say I would categorize this more Charmed/Buffy the Vampire Slayer-esk. It was a fast-paced witchy novel filled with intrigue, mystery and humor.
I was not expecting such wit and humor to be present in a book about witches and found myself laughing throughout the whole book. Michelle Krys for sure nailed that teen voice and created some quality characters. Indigo definitely is a girl full of sarcastic wit and I could relate to her sense of humor greatly. Indie was not your typical heroine, but I quite enjoyed her personality and fun it refreshing to have a main character/ heroine that doesn’t fit the mold. She is a popular cheerleader who has it all until one day when her life starts to crumble when she finds out a secret about her life. You see such character growth within Indie throughout the book and she becomes so much more likable throughout the story because at the beginning she carries that stigma of popularity and being superior.
Then of course the snarky Bishop, the main male character who comes into Indies world and turns it upside down. (Don’t worry this isn’t insta-love) Paige is also an absolutely amazing secondary character! She is caring and intelligent and definitley doesn’t care what others think about her. I appreciate that a lot in a character!
This is a fantastically written book about witches, magic and high school life, that is a quick and easy read filled with twists and surprises, a big cliff hanger and even a dragon! If that sounds interesting at all to you I definitely recommend picking up the book and giving it a read!
Look out for my interview with the author Michelle Krys and the release of her book Hexed, June 10th 2014!

Wow, I’m really surprised you liked the book as I didn’t expect it to be so good..I mean cheerleaders are definitely not that kind of main characters I prefer to read about 😀 Now I’m really excited to get my own copy of this book and to witness Indie’s sarcasm myself. Great review!
I mean the cheerleading aspect didn’t play a huge role in the book so that was nice. And it was just a really fun easy read, not some theoretical or deep book, but was definitely entertaining!
