If You Like Legacies…

When I am not reading, you can usually find me binge watching tv shows or movies. Getting lost in a fantasy world or a drama that is not your own life can really help with the day to day stresses of life. Many times when people create these posts or videos it is recommending books you may like based on other books. I thought it would be fun to recommend books based off of a tv show! If you like Legacies you should check out these books.

If you haven’t yet checked out Legacies what are you doing with your time in quarantine ? I will state that I think you should watch Vampire Dairies first because you will understand it more, but I don’t think it is totally necessary. It is also considered a spin off of The Originals which I have not seen, but still really enjoy Legacies. Its that young teen drama you crave with all those great paranormal elements from your favorite guilty pleasures!

*Continuing the tradition of The Vampire Diaries and The Originals, the story of the next generation of supernatural beings at The Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted. Klaus Mikaelson’s daughter, 17-year-old Hope Mikaelson; Alaric Saltzman’s twins, Lizzie and Josie Saltzman; and other young adults come of age in the most unconventional way possible, nurtured to be their best selves…in spite of their worst impulses*

If You Like Legacies... Read These Books

Crave by Tracy Wolff

Such a throw back feel with a unique and modern twist that we have all been needing. Crave has a Jennifer L Armentrout type writing feel including the fun pop culture references. A Bella/Edward vibe if Bella had the snarky humor of Rose from Vampire Academy. All set it a boarding school reminiscent of Legacies ! I think YA Vampire romances are making a comeback!

Not to mention that Crave is the reason I am currently binging Legacies, as the main character Grace watches it and references it in the book!

Seventh Born by Monica Sanz

Seventh Born was like visiting an old friend. It had those elements from the stories and series we love. For me it was pulling inspirations from Harry Potter and Vampire Academy, taking place at a boarding school, magic, mystery, a dab of romance & forbidden love .  Monica Sanz worked some of her own magic in developing a setting and backstory that was so intriguing and mixed with the elements of magic and mystery, it kept me on the edge of my seat, devouring the book.

It may not have all the paranormal creatures, but does have magic, mystery and a the school element!

Wayward Children Series by Seanan McGuire

Getting lost in the magical worlds of far far away. Of those places that every child wished to escape to, through the wardrobe, down the rabbit hole or even through a train platform. In this collection of novellas we are taken through those magical doors to discover worlds that have set rules or instructions. There is a school for those children who come back from these worlds and can no longer manage to live a “normal” life.

The Demigod Complex by Abigail Owen

A funny, quick and  strong chemistry office romance with a paranormal/mythological twist!

Owen was able to deliver a lot in a short, 100 page novel. As I continue to explore Owen’s books I am falling more and more in love. She is able to create such unique stories that are full of hot and steamy moments. I adored the use of mythology and paranormal aspects that played into an urban setting!

These one is adult but has the drama and paranormal aspects. It is also the first in a series with the second one being just as good!

Haven by Mary Lindsey

This unique dark paranormal read brought to light a gender role reversal spin to the Beauty and the Beast story. I am not quite sure if this book had any inspiration from the B&B story, but there were some parallels and loosely based similarities. I was completely blown away with this story and quickly flew through it! It was layered with an air of mystery and full of secrets, some of which could be deadlyI enjoyed the paranormal elements of this book a lot and really enjoyed what Lindsey created with these two groups that live in this town. The different abilities and powers were so intriguing and the kookiness and quirks of the characters was a lot of fun.
