This took a quite different turn from the first book. Where the first book was all fluffy and about summer and summer romances, this book hit a lot of deeper topics of love and loss, heartbreak and how growing up brings with it the change of what life use to be like.

This book picks up at the start of the next summer. Everything has changed and for the first summer in forever Belly is stuck at home for the summer. She is finding it hard and really missing everyone and the summer house in Cousins. While recounting the past year and addressing everything that has led up to this point, a need arises that lands everyone back in Cousins.

I did enjoy this book. It was a fast read and was really sad at times. I thought that it was interesting that there were a few times in which the story was told from Jeremiah’s point of view. I still found Belly to be a bit annoying at times, but felt like in a way she grew up a little more from the last book. I also still was really in love with Conrad and grew even fonder of Jeremiah. The Beck boys are so swoon worthy! I wasn’t a huge fan of the way the book ended (mainly because it is not how I wanted parts of it to end), but can’t wait to read the final installment in the Summer trilogy and see what because of Belly, The Beck boys and the summer house in Cousins.
