That moment you refresh social media and on the top of your feed is amazing news! You begin to high pitch squeal because what is right in front of your face, are words that make your bank account sad. Those letters staring at you, bring happiness and joy to your soul because they are informing you of the fact that your favorite author is releasing a new book! I currently have a few that are my ultimate auto-buy authors!
The rest of the world and responsibilities for the day fade away into the background as your happy heart begins to search and read all things about this new book. But it doesn’t even matter what it is about because you know you will buy it anyways. All you need is to see that authors name to know it must now be yours.
Spending time googling and goodreads-ing this new title to find out everything you can about the release date, if ARCs are available and who you need to sell you first born child to in order to get a copy of this wonderful collection of words that are bound together making up a little piece of magic written by one of your favorites. You reblog and retweet all things on the internet in regards to this book and then all caps shout your excitement of this release across all forms of social media for all to see!
Next you head to one of the many online booksellers and preorder your very own copy of the book. As well as writing down the release date on absolutely everything so you won’t forget. You consider rereading everything by that author in preparation for the release date. By the time you come back to reality, its the end of the work day and you have completed nothing. But you get to go home at stare at your bookshelves and contemplate what book to read next.
This is what happens to me every time one of my auto-buy authors talks about or has a new release. It even happens when I am in the bookstore and release there is a book they wrote that I yet to own. There are not many but definitely a handful of authors that even if I haven’t read all their books/ or caught up on the series I need to own everything they have written.
My Ultimate Auto-buy Authors
A. G Howard
I adore everything she writes. The atmosphere and imagination that goes into her storytelling, is darkly beautiful. Howard takes fairytales or stories that are not commonly used and turn them into dark retellings. Spinning words into such a magnificent story that you would never have thought it was inspired by another.
J.R Ward
I have not read many books by Ward and own tons. When I first picked up Dark Lover by J.R Ward I was hooked. The way she wrote a romance that was so steamy, but also dealt with so much more than just the romance. There was an actual story and plot line that runs throughout the series. The world was so well done and creative. Ward is not just some trashy romance author, but a brilliant story writer.
Richelle Mead
Every since I binge read the Vampire Academy, I fell in love with Meads sassy characters and writing. There is something so easy about her writing and storytelling. I own more books of Meads than I have actually read, but I am hoping to read some of her adult books this year.
Gillian Flynn
I am here for everything that Flynn writes. Even her writing for tv shows is absolutely amazing. Her dark, twisted writing is what I live for! There have been rumors and articles that she has a book coming out in like 2021. I need something sooner. I really would sell my book collection for it (probably not, but it sounded good)
Cat Winters
I am trying to make my way through the rest of the published books Winters has. I recently received a eARC of her upcoming release and I might have screamed in my empty apartment! Over the past few years I have read a few books by Winters. I’ve really enjoyed her darker paranormal historical fiction novels. I have had the chance to read another one of her books early and I cannot get enough. She has a way of building up a story and making you believe one thing and then shocking and surprising you.
Jay Crownover
I am thinking about doing a month binge read of all of my unread Crownover books. She just releases books faster than I can read all of them and I have some catching up to do. I adored all the men from the Marked Men series! Crownover sure knows how to write a swoony male character and some steamy NA! I have gotten to the point of not even reading what the book is about I just automatically buy it!
Jennifer L Armentrout
She is my girl and writes some great angsty/ swoon worthy men! There is humor weaved into Armentrout’s writing that adds an extra element to her stories. The are fun reads that are layered with paranormal characters. You just cant help but to smile as you are reading her books. She also comes out with new books so quickly its hard to keep up.
Now there are tons of authors that I love and just because they aren’t on here didn’t mean I don’t love them just as much. These authors are ones that I have to have their new releases and books right away. I do not even have to know what the book is about, I will just buy it because of who wrote it.
Who are some of your ultimate auto-buy authors ? The ones you must get your hands on new releases?

RICHELLE MEAD YESSS!!!
I also love Richelle Mead. I feel like she is an underrated author in the blogging book community. I have loved her books since 2009.
Gillian Flynn is also an auto-buy author for me. I’ve enjoyed all 3 books that she has written. I can’t wait for her to write something new. As soon as that happens I go to preorder it. It’s before 2021.
Great post, I adore A.G Howard and just read my first Cat Winters book and completely feel in love with her writing 🙂
