For a believer in the Middle Book Syndrome, Marissa Meyer did an absolute amazing job in slightly curing me of my hatred of the second in a series. The way that she was able to incorporate the two worlds together was flawless. This book was also missing the greatest component of every bad second book, fluff. There was no fluff to be found in this book, it was filled with new romance, drama, and some gruesome fights.
For a fairytale retelling of Little Red Riding Hood, Scarlet gave just enough foundation of the original story and took its own great and wondrous twists making it seem like a completely different storyline. I fell in love with Wolf and his story. It was beautifully handled and I enjoyed the change of heart and softer caring side that followed the Big Bad Wolf’s storyline. Iko still remains my favorite sassy, personality bigger than life android. Scarlet gives you the story of the underdogs and a great adventurous story of the rebels.
