Top 5 2022 Releases

In the past couple of years I have been putting together a Top 5 post for new releases as an end of year wrap up. (Check out the Top 5 2021 Adult Releases  and Top 5 2021 YA Releases I read!) I like to spilt up my top books of the year into backlist and new releases so that it better showcases the books I adored! If I didn’t do that I would be afraid new releases would overshadow all others I read. Since I read so many books this year, in particular so many romance books , it only seemed to make sense to also split up the top new releases! In years past I have split it by adult and YA but this year it is split between romance and adult/YA. Overall this was such a great year for reading and I could not narrow down my top new releases to just 5! Therefore here is my Top 5  2022 Releases!

In no particular order….

Top 5 2022 Releases

Spark of Ash by Molly E. Lee

“You are more than your past. It forged you into the person you are today. A good, strong person who knows the world is worth more than its faults.”

This was the final book in the Ember of Night series. The character development in this series is top tier for me! There are some amazing guys in this series as well as Harley who is kickass especially with everything she has been through. The sister relationship is everything! I think the Aether is one of my favorite worlds and wish we got so much more! The found family had me filled with emotions.

Dead Silence by S.A Barnes

“Silence has a different quality to it when you’re the only one left alive. It’s thicker. Heavier somehow.”

This one is like Titanic in Space x The Shining. Definitely gave me another reason why I would never like to go to space. There was an element of off the page horror that was creeping in throughout the story. With an unreliable narrator you just don’t know what to believe. It wasn’t the best thing I have ever read, but the eeriness that was created and the setting got me.

Curse of Shadows by A.K Wilder

“It’s simple. Whoever holds the crown, holds the future of all the realms in their hands.”

A high stakes adventurous quest that takes us across Amassia with a diverse and badass cast of characters!

I won’t hold it against Wilder that I had to wait a very long time for this sequel. I loved every minute of immersing myself back into this world with these characters and have to say It was adventurous rollercoaster for my emotions.I was on the edge of my seat the whole time  never knowing the fate of the characters.

What Moves The Dead by T Kingfisher

“The dead don’t walk. Except, sometimes, when they do.”

This was a creepy retelling of Edgar Allen Poe’s Fall of the House of Usher. The rabbits were so weird but I loved them and what they added to the story! Loved the atmosphere and world that was created, especially the pronouns and gender non conforming.

Court by Tracy Wolff

“Because the truth is, no matter how much power you have, sometimes broken things have to stay broken, even though we might wish otherwise.”

This is the 4th book in the Crave series! So much happened, we got to meet so many new characters that I loved. Got more of the world developed. Went on a roller coaster of emotions with shocks and turns everywhere. I am still so team Hudson and I am on the edge of my seat waiting to see what happens next.

Series Read in 2022

Every year I usually set a goal for reading series, but decided against it this year as I was trying not to pressure myself. Surprisingly I feel like I was actually able to complete more and make more progress in reading, catching up and finishing series. Like I did way better with completing series then I think ever […]

New To Me Authors 2021

It has again been another year of discovering new books and new authors. It was fun as I went to go start this post and look at my picks from last year of those new to me authors I fell in love with in 2020. I continued to explore my reading tastes in 2021 and begun to read […]

Series Read in 2020

I feel like I say this every year, but it was my goal in 2020 to read, catch up and complete more series. My official goal was to complete 10 series. As you can probably already assume, I fell a little short this year. I had such high expectations, but went off path and started a ton of […]

Romanceopoly 2020 Year End Wrap Up

I first heard about this challenge from the booktuber Jess from PeaceLoveBooks. Romance has never been a big genre for me, I sometimes find it so corny and just over the top. In the past year I have really changed how much romance I read. I did not complete all the challenges for Romanceopoly, but I want to […]

Books I Read in July 2020

It has gotten to the point where I have been so busy with work and trying to prioritize my time to enjoy those things I love. Because of that I have not been able to spend much time writing reviews for books that I am reading. I have a Novel Companion that I use to track my reading […]
