12 Days of Books Tag

12 days of books tag

I decided that I wanted to create something fun for the holiday season! I have done many tags since I have started book blogging and wanted to add to the fun of the season by creating my own, 12 Days of Books Tag! I thought this song was very fitting for a tag and hope everyone enjoys it! I worked really hard trying to come up with categories that fit into each section of the song, its corny and some of it is a stretch, but whatever!  If you decide to participate and do this tag I would love for you to leave your link so that I may see the choices you made for the 12 Days of Books Tag!

On the first day of Christmas
my true love sent to me:
A Partridge in a Pear Tree  : The Partridge Stood Alone In The Pear Tree? What is Your Favorite Stand Alone?

This is hard because I have quite a few favorite stand alone books. My favorite one from this year would have to be A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness. It was beautifully written, a touching story about a little boy and a monster and him overcoming some tough issues. It left me in tears! The artwork is also fantastic and beautifully dark!

On the second day of Christmas
my true love sent to me:
Two Turtle Doves : Love Is In The Air, Who Is You OTP?

OTPs are always hard for me because I fall in love with the male characters and do not want to give them up. This is also going to be a recent one because I am ever changing. I am not like those people who can keep the same favorites forever! My OTP is Layla and Roth from The Dark Elements Series by Jennifer L. Armentrout!

On the third day of Christmas
my true love sent to me:
Three French Hens :  In The Spirit Of Threes, What Is The Best Trilogy Your Have Read?

I do not have a trilogy that I have loved every part of because for me trilogies seem to fall apart either the second book has a bad case of the second book syndrome or the final book does not end in the way that I hoped it would. I really did enjoy the Shatter Me Trilogy  by Tahereh Mafi and also was a huge fan of the Breathing Trilogy by Rebecca Donavan, but I have to say so far my favorite would have to be The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins!

On the fourth day of Christmas
my true love sent to me:
Four Calling Birds : Since Series Usually Consist of Four or More Books What Is Your Favorite Series?

I have not completed many series. I have started and I am in the middle of loads, but the completed list is very short! This year the two I completed I have a special place in my heart for both of them. Song of the Lioness Quartet by Tamora Pierce and The Vampire Academy Series by Richelle Mead! They both have fantastic elements and I highly recommend both series!

On the fifth day of Christmas
my true love sent to me:
Five Golden Rings : One Ring To Rule Them All! Who is Your Favorite Villain/Antagonist?

Even though I do not consider him a villain at all and was in love with him from the beginning, Warner from the Shatter Me Trilogy by Tahereh Mafi! He is totally swoon worthy and has daddy issues.

On the sixth day of Christmas
my true love sent to me:
Six Geese a Laying : Creation Is A Beautiful Thing! What is Your Favorite World/World-Building?

Worlds and World-building are one of my favorite parts of books! I love new worlds and maps and seeing the authors imagination unfold to create a fantastic world along with a story. There are so many great worlds that I have had an opportunity to experience, but as I have stated many times in this post my favorites change all the time. So I will list a few of my favorites! Of course the Wizarding World from Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling, Camorr and Tal Verrar from Gentleman Bastard Series by Scott Lynch, Totall by Tamora Pierce, The Shatter Sea from Half A King  by Joe Abercrombie and many more!

On the seventh day of Christmas
my true love sent to me:
Seven Swans a Swimming: Who Needs Seven Swans When All It Takes Is One Good Animal Sidekick To Make A Hero Rock! Who Is Your Favorite Animal Sidekick?

I am a total crazy cat lady and that made this an easy choice for me! Faithful from Tamora Pierce’s Song of the Lioness Quartet is one feisty feline! Without Faithful, Alanna would have been in loads of trouble.

On the eighth day of Christmas
my true love sent to me:
Eight Maids a Milking: Milk Is So 18th Century! Which Book or Series Takes Beverages/Food To A Whole New Level?

For this there was no contest for me. Although I love some of the things from the Wizarding world, Scott Lynch creates an interesting assortment of food and beverages in his Gentleman Bastard Series! Shark, eel, and hybrid and magically created foods and many more develop an interesting element to his stories!

On the ninth day of Christmas
my true love sent to me:
Nine Ladies Dancing : Dancing is Just One Skill of a Lady! Who is Your Favorite Kickass Female Lead?

There are a lot of awesome kickass females that are written about and being a female I definitely appreciate the females that are intelligent and can save themselves! My favorite would have to be Rose Hathaway from the Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead! Not only is she kickass but is sassy as well!

On the tenth day of Christmas
my true love sent to me:
Ten Lords a Leaping: Leaping Lords? How About Who Is Your Favorite Leading Lad?

I have not read many books from a male perspective. It doesn’t seem to be a thing that is done a lot, but I do have many fictional crushes and they tend to play a huge role in the book! My favorite leading lads would have to be the Raven boys from the Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater! Gansey, Ronan, Adam and Noah all have very different personalities and quirks, but each of them is swoony and a fantastic lead in their own way!

On the eleventh day of Christmas
my true love sent to me:
Eleven Pipers Piping: Where Would We Be Without Music? What Is Your Favorite Book or Bookish Thing That Deals With Music? (It can be about music, reference music a lot etc.)

I do not believe I have read a book based solely on music besides The Soloist by Steve Lopez. This was an interesting book, but since I had to read it for school I did not enjoy it that much. I did just recently read I Want It That Way by Ann Aguirre and the main characters talk about music and their favorite bands a lot. The author even included a playlist, which I loved because it adds an extra element to the overall experience of the book!

On the twelfth day of Christmas
my true love sent to me:
12 Drummers Drumming: Drum Roll Please…………………….What Is Your Favorite Read of This Year?

I plan on making a list of my favorites from this year and I haven’t decided if I will rank them or not. I always find that very difficult to do because each book is wonderful for a different reason! I have to say if I had to rank them The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman would be up there!

I hope you participate in this 12 days of books tag and leave me links to your answers! Happy Holidays!
