March 2020 First Lines

I decided that it would be fun to start a new feature; first lines to add the the wrap up of books I read every month. For me most of the time I pick up and look at books in the store it is the first lines that capture my attention and draw me in. It has always been intriguing to me the amount of thought that must go into those first words the author decides to but as the introduction to their work. The first lines are your first impression of the book. Here are the March 2020 First Lines!

The Winter Duke by Claire Eliza Bartlett

” The night could be worse, considering. The likelihood of a public death was low.”

Fury Unleashed by N.J Walters

Maccus Fury stared dispassionately at the rogue werewolf he’d just beheaded.”

Ice Planet Honeymoon: Aehako & Kira by Ruby Dixon

“I wake up to the sensation of the baby kicking my bladder.”

Come Tumbling Down by Seanan McGuire

Eleanor West was fond of saying- inasmuch as she was fond of saying anything predictable, sensible or more than once – that her school had no graduates, only students who found somewhere else to their learning for a time.”

Fire In His Blood by Ruby Dixon

“As far as jail cells go, this one’s pretty decent.”

The School For Good And Evil by Soman Chainani

“Sophie had waited all her life to be kidnapped.”

Willa’s Beast by Ruby Dixon

“When I wake up from a deep, heavy sleep to unfamiliar people staring down at me, I know what has happened- I have been sold to new masters.”

Crave by Tracy Wolff

I stand at the outer tarmac door staring at the plane I am about to get on and try my hardest not to freak the f out.”
