Friday Reads | Catching Up After Vacation Hiatus

downthebookhole

I have so much to do after being on vacation for a week and a half. I did not read as much as I was hoping to in Feb. so I really want to take control and go head first into the month of March. I am currently in the middle of like 3 books and have a few I need to start for review and book clubs! I am almost done with Brave by Jennifer L Armentrout which I have been listening to as an audiobook. I am interested to see how this trilogy is going to end. I am also a third of the way through The Looking Glass Wars by Frank Beddor and Phoenix Fire by S.D Grimm. I am hoping to make some dents in these books this weekend as well as catch up on all of last months wrap ups and posts I have forgotten. Look out for many blog posts coming your way in the next few days!

Friday Reads | Pulling Myself Out Of A Slump Edition

downthebookhole

I have been crazy busy with work lately and have been struggling with reading. And of course this is while I am hosting my blogiversary read-a-thon Down The Read-A-Thon Hole Challenge. Currently I am reading 3 different books and who knows what will happen this weekend. I am about halfway through listening to Brave by Jennifer L Armentrout, the last book in the Wicked Trilogy. It is a New Adult paranormal romance. I really enjoyed this trilogy so far and I am super interested to see where its going to go and how it is going to end.

I started listening to The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan, which is something I really need to get to since it is a well loved series by many.

I am also reading The Looking Glass Wars by Frank Beddor, which is an Alice in Wonderland retelling. I am about a third of the way into it and I am really liking it. It is like the reverse of the original story and has some almost steampunk-ish vibes at times and a very interest interpretation of imagination and creation. I am really hoping to make some progress on these reads as next weekend I leave on vacation.

Wicked by Jennifer L Armentrout | Fan Cast and Playlist

I have marathon binged the whole Wicked Trilogy by Jennifer L Armentrout. Sometimes when reading certain books I am inspired to do a little something extra with the books. While reading Wicked I could picture the main characters and could definitely pick out some songs that I felt went well with the story or would play if it was made into a movie. I wanted to share those with others and see what others that have read these books think. So onto my casting and soundtrack!

  1. Down in New Orleans– Princess and the Frog
  2. House of the Rising Sun– Animals
  3. Carry On My Wayward Son– Kansas

Friday Reads | Last Minute Pre-Christmas Weekend

downthebookhole

So I have been on the struggle bus all week. I don’t know if its the weather or me just making excuses and being lazy. I have not done well with reading or any other life things this past week. I started reading The Book Thief by Markus Zusak last weekend (Yes I have not read this book yet). I am really enjoying it and when I sit down and focus it is a quick read, but it has been taking me a long time to read it. I definitely want to set some time aside this weekend and complete this long overdue read! I just recently finished the Thunder Roads series by Katie McGarry (for some reason I have really been reading/listening to a lot of contemporary romances, which are not a big thing for me, but they are so quick to fly through and listen to as audiobooks) So to continue with that contemporary romance kick I started listening to If There’s No Tomorrow by Jennifer L. Armentrout. I am not very far into so I have no decided feelings about it yet. I do enjoy Jennifer L Armentrout so I am really hoping that I like it! As for the next physical book I have on the lineup after fiishing The Book Thief (if that happens this weekend) will be Seven Days of Us by Francesca Hornak. I am a little nervous for this one because I am not huge on Adult Contemporary, but I know it is about the holidays and I am hoping it will be a fun holiday family drama!

17455817I have been a little busy lately and by busy I mean I have fallen down the dangerous black hole that is netflix. The past year I didn’t have much time to watch television so I have been catching up on all of my shows. I have also begun preparing life and my blog for 2016, which is not an easy task. I am currently juggling a few books. I started Every Last Breath by Jennifer L. Armentrout the final book in the Dark Elements Trilogy. I had to pick this book up because it was getting to that point where I was forgetting what had happened in the previous books. After jumping back into I have remembered why I loved these books so much. I am excited to see how this will end and to see who Layla with pick!25733923 I also received Lights Out by Ted Koppel from Blogging For Books in return for an honest book review. I have a went to school for International Studies and World Politics so it should come as no surprise that I am interested in politics. Terrorism is an area that really intrigues me and I love learning more about it. The idea of a cyberattack on the United States and what the consequences of that would mean for our society are a little scary to think about. So far Koppel has been providing a vivid and intense picture of likely aftermath of a cyberattack on the U.S electrical grid.

What are your plans for the weekend? Anything fun or exciting happening ? What are you reading/planning on reading? I would love to hear from you!

review

*Warning this is the second book in the sequel and may contain spoilers for book one*

I have been staring at this post for the good part of 2 weeks. I just personally feel like I cannot manage to write a coherent review for this book because of all the feels. If I were to try and write a review for this it would most likely end up just gushing about my love for ROTH! I also feel like my review would give too much away because I just want to basically discuss this book, but thats not helpful to people who haven’t read it yet. So I will try to do my best to shortly sum up my thoughts on this book!

I absolutely love Jennifer L. Armentrout’s writing. It is youthful and the dialogue is sassy and true to teenagers! I do not at all think that this book fell into the second book syndrome category. Although I did not like it as much as the first one because of the lack of Roth (I am not that much of a Zayne fan). There were some exciting twists and shocking moments. There was also a load of some great swoon worthy moments! Layla really shows some growth and is become a strong female lead (not that she wasn’t before this book). Bambi and the hell kittens make a return as well as Layla’s awesome spunky friends! The book was fast paced and gripping. It had me on the edge of my seat (well that is until I accidentally saw the last page and ruined it for myself) and wanting more! I cannot wait to find out what happens in the third and final book. I also heard that Thumper makes an appearance and I can’t wait.

Overall I am sorry I could not write up a better review, but this as well as the previous book are really worth the read if you are fans of Jennifer L. Armentrout, paranormal romance and/or swoony men !

Swoon Worthy Saturday [10/25]

Untitled design-14

Saturday is a day for swooning. Swoon Worthy Saturday is a weekly meme where in we present a fictional boy who has swept us off our feet, given us butterflies, made our heart do acrobatics and driven us absolutely crazy! (Hosted by StayBookish )

Roth

from Stone Cold Touch, Jennifer L. Armentrout

This is not the first time that Roth has appeared in a Swoon Worthy Saturday post for me and I don’t think it will be the last. Even though I am not very far into this book my love for Roth continues to grow especially with how White Hot Kiss ended. Not only is he ruggedly handsome with amazing abs and broad shoulders, but he is funny and witty and definitely has some sass! I think many people will lean more towards Zayne because of some things that happen, but I am going to stick by Roth and I know what he is doing is probably just to protect Layla in the end. I think he is the best thing for Layla and if she doesn’t choose him she is an idiot. Like he is the crown prince of Hell, how could she not pick him.

Friday Reads [10/24]

Untitled design-1118039030I have been knocking it out with the reading so far this month and I am getting to that point where I am reading multiple books all at the same time. After I finished the last book I read, I picked up The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan. I have to say that so far this book is not what I expected it to be. I was expecting The Village meets Walking Dead and so far it just feels like a love story with not enough zombies. I got about 100 pages into the book when I had to set it aside because I got my copy of Stone 20821525Cold Touch by Jennifer L. Armentrout. Ever since I finished White Hot Kiss by Jennifer L. Armentrout, I needed the sequel. I am about 150 pages in and it is making me love Roth even more! There are a few things I have been annoyed with, but overall I am really enjoying it. Other than those two I am listening the The Source by J.D Horn as an audiobook. I am pretty sure that is all I will be able to get through (if even) this weekend!

What are your plans for the weekend?Anything fun or exciting happening ? What are you reading/planning on reading? I would love to hear from you!
