New Holiday Movie Reviews | Blogmas 2020

I first posted New Holiday Movie Reviews last year when Netflix was killing it and releasing a ton of original holiday movies. So since I openly share my thoughts on books, it felt right to share my thoughts on the holiday movies released in the year. Last year the focus was mostly Netflix, this year is similar but there is one from Hulu as well! There were so many that came out this year with some hits and some misses! I also cheated a little and added a holiday tv series that was released this year as well!

Jingle Jangle

5/5

This movie is part of Netflix’s Representation Matters Collection. It was so beautiful! The music and singing were absolutely fantastic! I feel like this is a soundtrack I will listen to throughout this month! I loved the overall story and the focus on inventions and believing. I will be recommending this to everyone this holiday season!

Dash & Lily

4.5/5

This was such a fun and cute tv series! For being in high school they seemed a little pretentious. It had some great diversity representation. I haven’t read the book so I cannot say how well the characters were cast or how well it stuck to the book. It was so full of Christmas cheer! The love of books was also a winner for me!

Holidate

5/5

I wouldn’t say that I fully think this is a Christmas movie, definitely a holiday one though. The banter between the main characters was so great! I love the humor and it has some great actors! Great Rom Com with a hate to friends to love!

The Princess Switch: Switched Again

3/5

This one was just okay. I got a little bored and zoned out a bit. Vanessa looked funny with that blonde wig. It seemed familiar and like a movie I’ve seen before. I feel like they could have been more creative with the story.

Christmas Chronicles 2

5/5

This was a cute and fun follow up to the first movie. The elves remain my favorite! They are so adorable and quite funny! This movie gives you that vibe of those movies from our childhood!

Dolly Parton's Christmas on the Square

3.5/5

This Christmas musical was reminiscent of the classic A Christmas Carol. Definitely a heartwarming movie with all the holiday love and cheer. Dolly Parton is always great! I enjoyed some of the music and the movie as a whole.

Happiest Season

4/5

This was a lot funnier than I thought it would be. Daniel Levy and Audrey Plaza were the stars of this movie for me! I was definitely hoping a certain character ended up with someone else. The queer rep was fantastic!

The Things I Do When I Should Be Reading

Being a book lover and having more unread books than one person could ever read in a lifetime, one of the biggest struggles is making time to be an adult and read books. It sad that I am at that point in life where I am to schedule out time in the day that can be set aside […]
