Friday Reads [11/28]

Untitled design-11

887877 I have had the week off. It seems though that sleep and netflix have been consuming my life. I am semi participating in a read-a-thon, but it hasn’t been really motivating me to do anything. I got my hardback copy of Red Seas Under Red Skies by Scott Lynch and I think it will make continuing reading it easier. I love the book so far it has just become difficult to try and read the mass market paperback.

I have also been reading The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater. 17347389I really enjoyed The Raven Boys ,but have found this one a little difficult to get into. The writing has really been bothering me and I am getting to the point in the book where it is becoming easier to read. I am still making my way through The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood on audiobook. I have to say I have been struggling to get through this because Clare Danes voice is so soothing and I fall asleep after like 10 minutes of listening so it is a slow go. I also started The Duff by Kody Keplinger yesterday because I needed a contemporary to read since for me they are easier to pick up and put down with the busy holiday yesterday! I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!

What are your plans for the weekend? Anything fun or exciting happening ? What are you reading/planning on reading? I would love to hear from you!

Friday Reads [11/21]

Untitled design-11

887877I have hit a slight reading and blogging slump. I have been busy with work and taking some time to see my best friend/relaxing. I have the next week off and with the horribly cold weather and snow that has graced us with its presence is going to be keeping me indoors. I might end up holding my own little read-a-thon to get through some books that I have gotten a little stuck in and books I need to catch up on for review. I just got my hardback copy of Red Seas Under Red Skies by Scott Lynch and I think it will make continuing reading it easier. I love the book so far it has just become difficult to try and read the mass market paperback. I also started The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater. 17347389I really enjoyed The Raven Boys and I am so excited to get into this book. I cant wait to get lost in the world of the Aglionby boys ! I am still making my way through The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood on audiobook. I have to say I have been struggling to get through this because Clare Danes voice is so soothing and I fall asleep after like 10 minutes of listening so it is a slow go.

Friday Reads [11/14]

Untitled design-11

887877Not like I wasn’t already taking on too much by reading two huge books at the same time, but I also started another book and an audiobook. Not that I am not enjoying the two bigger books I am reading, but they take longer to read which starts to put me in a reading slump. I am still reading Red Seas Under Red Skies by Scott Lynch and I am about halfway through it! It is getting to the part with pirates and I am so excited! I also have just about 200 pages left in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire 6by J.K Rowling. This one is by far my favorite in the series so far! It is really making me want to watch the movie like right now! Because both of these books are 700+ pages I recently picked up I Want It That Way by Ann Aguirre which is a New Adult novel, the first in her new trilogy. I am really enjoying it so far and is providing a nice break between the bigger books. It is an enticing read that has some swoony men and reminds me of my time in college! Like reading I want it that waythese three weren’t enough I picked The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood back up on audiobook. I like having an audiobook to listen to those nights I have a hard time falling asleep and had set this down awhile ago because I kept falling asleep too fast and wasn’t getting very far into it. I am really enjoying it though and find the concept to be intriguing. It is a dystopian that is quite scary because I can see it becoming a reality and in The Handmaid's Tale parts of the world things to a similar extent are happening like this.

Friday Reads [11/7]

Untitled design-11

I am currently reading too many books! First I have picked Red Seas Under Red Skies by 887877Scott Lynch back up. I have been wanting to read this one ever since I finished the first book in the Gentleman Bastard series, The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch. This is a high fantasy that follows a group of thieves who pull extravagant heists. I also picked up Harry Potter and 17347382the Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling. I did not want to get in a reading slump or stuck while reading RSURS. This is my first time reading the Harry Potter series and I am slowly making me way through it. Of course I am really enjoying it so far and feel like this one will be my favorite! I am also beta reading the book Volition by Lily Paradis. On top of all of those other books I am listening to The Source by J.D Horn. This is the second book in a new witch trilogy!

Friday Reads [10/31]

Untitled design-11Happy Halloween!!! I cant believe it is already the end of October. These months just 887877
keep flying by. I am not completely sure what I am going to start reading. I have been on such a spooky and creepy reading kick. I just finished a book last night and have no idea what to pick up next. I have been doing so great with the Halloween reads that I don’t know if I just want to continue with that or start anew and read other books. I am a huge horror/slasher movie fan and I will probably spend all day watching movies so I have temporarily decided on a few books that I might start tomorrow! Awhile ago I put Red Seas Under Red Skies by Scott Lynch on hold. I had to much going on and wasn’t able to give the book the attention it needed. I really want to read it and 6move onto the third book. I feel like this month might be filled with fantasy! I also think I am going to start Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling because sometimes while I read a lot of fantasy I get in a reading slump. Also for the fact that i have never read the Harry Potter books and need to continue on with them! As well as these I am still currently listening to The Source by J.D. Horn on audiobook!

What are your plans for the weekend?Anything fun or exciting happening ? What are you reading/planning on reading? I would love to hear from you!

August TBR

Lately I have been kicking butt on my TBR Lists! Since I am planning on participating in a few different read-a-thons this month I will have several different TBRs created. I have already posted my TBR for the Dusting off the Shelf read-a-thon happening Aug 1st – Aug 15th! The books that I am including on this list are ones I am reading for the FCLA Book Club and or buddy reads. Or just ones I want to get to and might end up including in other read-a-thon TBRs!

IMG_2079

We’ll Always Have Summer by Jenny Han – I recently finished the first two books in this series and would love to be able to complete the trilogy this summer! This might get put on my Bout of Books TBR!

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen – I am participating in a read-a-long for this book on goodreads and I also am using it for a challenge in the Dusting off the Shelf read-a-thon. It has been awhile since I read a classic and I have never read this one so that needs to change. I might end up working on it throughout the month though.

Hollow City by Ransom Riggs – I am continuing on with the duology and buddy reading it with Krystal @ Books Are My Thing!

The Giver by Lois Lowry- Don’t worry I have read this book already multiple times. So this will be a re-read for me due to the movie coming out soon. I don’t remember all that happened and its a short read.

♠ Red Seas Under Red Skies by Scott Lynch- How many TBRs has this made an appearance on? I started this in June and decided to put it on hold, but I really hope I will be able to get to it (like for real this time) This is the second book in the Gentleman Bastard series and I highly recommend the first book The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch! I also just got the third book and really want to get to it!

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling- I just recently finished the third book and want to continue on with the #SummerofSpells and just completing the series for the first time!

Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson- This is the August Book of the Month for the Future Cat Ladies of America Book Club with Autumn @Kitty Cat Reads

I also have a few e-books/e-arcs I need to read so we will see how it goes with those!

What are you planning on reading this month?

July TBR

I actually was able to stick to some of my TBR List from last month. I of course did not get to all the books, but I read 3/7 (plus started the 4th one) I say that is a vast improvement! I wasn’t going to make a list for July since I am now done with work, will be vacationing and moving at the end of the month. So I just wanted to be able to read whatever I felt like, but now as I start to pack up my books for the move I realize that I should pick out which ones I will be reading so I don’t pack those ones. Anyways enough with my rambling and onto the books!

IMG_1999

The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater – This is a given since I will be doing a buddy read (book club) reading of this book with Autumn @ Kitty Cat Reads ! If you would like to join us or learn more about our goodreads group or what we are planning on doing go to my post Book of the Month!

Mrs. Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs-  I am also planning on doing a buddy read of this book with Krystal @ Books Are My Thing. I believe we are also planning on reading Hollow City by Ransom Riggs as well !

Red Seas Under Red Skies by Scott Lynch- I started this in June and decided to put it on hold, but I really hope I will be able to get to it this month! This is the second book in the Gentleman Bastard series and I highly recommend the first book The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch!

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J.K.Rowling – I just recently finished the second book and want to continue on with the #SummerofSpells and just completing the series for the first time!

♠ Summer Trilogy by Jenny Han – I recently bought the bind-up of the three books, The Summer I Turned Pretty, It’s Not Summer Without You, We’ll Always Have Summer. I am going to Vegas toward the end of the month and thought this would be a good book to take for the plane and laying out by the pool.

The Vault of Dreamers by Caragh O’Brien – I received this as an e-arc on netgalley and I have to read it this month. It sounds really interesting and I can’t wait to read it!

These are all that are pretty solid and most likely to be read! I have a few other review copies I need to get to and there are also some books I would really like to read soon, but we will see what happens this crazy busy month!

What are you planning on reading this month?

I have decided to put Red Seas Under Red Skies by Scott Lynch on hold since I have had so much going on recently and have not had enough time to dedicate to it. (I plan on getting back to it in a few weeks!) I am currently reading Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling, but have only about 30 pages left.(So I should for sure be able to finish it by today!) After I finish that I plan on picking up Tithe by Holly Black! I am up visiting Autumn from Kitty Cat Reads and she picked that book for me to read next.

titheI don’t know much about it besides that it is urban fantasy and she loved it, which is enough reason for me to pick it up! I am hoping the weather is going to be super nice because we want to spend the whole day outside in the sunshine reading! If I manage to get through both of those books this weekend (because I am on a mini vacay so I have nothing else to do) I will probably pick Red Seas again or start Charm and Strange by Stephanie Kuehn because those are the only books I have up north with me !

What are you currently reading or planning on reading this weekend?

Swoon Worthy Saturday {6/21}

Untitled design-14

Saturday is a day for swooning. Swoon Worthy Saturday is a weekly meme where in we present a fictional boy who has swept us off our feet, given us butterflies, made our heart do acrobatics and driven us absolutely crazy! (Hosted by StayBookish )

Jean Tannen                                                                       Red Seas Under Red Skies, Scott Lynch

Now Jean is not the typical book character I swoon over, but there is just something about him that I can’t help but absolutely love. He is an amazing fighter and carries around two hatchets he calls the “Wicked Sisters”. What is not to love about that. He is also highly intelligent, sarcastic and witty. In my head I think I have this totally different image of him than what he is actually suppose to look like and everything, but I still think he has a fantastic personality and I am not ashamed to admit that I find him completely Swoon Worthy!
