Synopsis:
Maggie is a seventeen year old girl who’s had a bad year. Her mom left, her dad is depressed, she’s graduating, barely, and her boyfriend of almost three years dumped her for a college football scholarship. Lately she thinks life is all about hanging on by a thread and is gripping tight with everything she has.
Then she meets Caleb.
She saves his life and instantly knows there’s something about him that’s intriguing but she is supposed to be on her way to a date with his cousin. But things change when they touch, sparks ignite. Literally. They imprint with each other and she sees their future life together flash before her eyes. She learns that not only is she his soul mate, and can feel his heartbeat in her chest, but there is a whole other world of people with gifts and abilities that she never knew existed. She herself is experiencing supernatural changes unlike anything she’s ever felt before and she needs the touch of his skin to survive. Now, not only has her dad come out of his depression to be a father again, and a pain as well, but Caleb’s enemies know he’s imprinted and are after Maggie to stop them both from gaining their abilities and take her from him. Can Caleb save her or will they be forced to live without each other after just finding one another?
Significance is about a girl named Maggie who at the beginning of the book imprints with a boy named Caleb, who is a supernatural being called an Ace. Throughout the book you follow the twos relationship and all the struggles they face in the human and supernatural world alike.If you have ever read my blog before or know anything about me, you would know how I feel about insta-love. This book took insta-love to a whole new level. Not only does it have insta-love and soulmates, but reminded me a lot of Twilight. I felt like it spent a lot of time focusing on the romance and it was laying it on a little too thick for me. I dislike when girls are so dependent on the male and can’t seem to handle anything in their life without the boy. I know with the imprinting and soulmate trope it is what is expected, but it was just too much. Now regardless of the matter of insta-love that was present in the book I did think overall that this was a sweet, cute and easy read, just not something that is for me.
Maggie fell a little short for me in the character development department. She had her moments, but never really seemed to find herself. Caleb was swoon-worthy and everything you would want from a lead male. He was protective and would do anything for her. Caleb’s family was also fun and dynamic. They had so much personality and have that quality that you would want in a big extended family.
I like some of the characters but had no real connect and deep love of them. The book at times became repetitive and replayed many of the same scenes. Maggie was desperate and needy and was just too whiny. This book presents all consuming love and young love. I think that for people who are really into romance and a developing relationship between two people would adore this book. This book just did not do it for me and is a series I do not think I will be continuing. Yet again I am in the minority with my feelings on this book and might be for the fact that I need a storyline and strong plot as well as the fact that I am not fully into romance books.
