Today I set off with my parents for an 8 hour drive from NE to SD! I have the whole week off from work and a vacation bucket list of things I want to see and do in South Dakota. This was the first time going to the state! I plan to listen to an audiobook the whole ride since I get car sick and need a productive distraction. The audiobook I plan to listen to is To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han, in preparation for the Netflix release of the book to movie later this month!
Well last night I was able to finish To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han and I absolutely loved it! I cannot wait for Netflix to release the movie. I am sure it is going to be really cute! Today we spent the day driving around Custer State Park and I got to see all sorts of awesome wildlife like Prairie Dogs and Buffalos! We also drove through some scary tunnels and roads, but it was so worth it! I also started listening to the audiobook of P.S I Still Love You by Jenny Han, the second book in the To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before series!
Another awesome day spent exploring South Dakota and checking things off my vacation bucket list! Teddy Roosevelt is my favorite president and it was awesome to see Mt. Rushmore today. I spent quite some time at the Mt. Rushmore bookstore looking at all of the books about Teddy, I really need to get one! My dad bought me an awesome bookmark with Mt. Rushmore and a quote by Teddy on it! I was able to get quite a bit read of the book I am beta reading. I also finished listening to P.S I Still Love You by Jenny Han. I really enjoyed it and love the characters from this book. I was also really happy with the way the romance ended up and cant wait to read the last one in the series.
Today was the last check off my vacation bucket list, visiting the Badlands! It was absolutely breath taking. Climbing up into the mountain sides was a little scary, but so worth it! I also read a little bit of Turtles All The Way Down by John Green and finished the book I was beta reading! I got in over 10,000 steps today and sure did my fair share of sweating. So I spent some time in the camper, sitting in the air condition, listening to Charged by Jay Crownover, the second book in Saints of Denver Series.
Today was the last day we had before making the long drive all the way back to to NE. I have borrowed Puddin’ by Julie Murphy for the trip back tomorrow. We just hung around camp all day, I was going to go for a hike, but decided to sun bath in the heat and start my first read for #ARCAugust, Uncharted by Erin Cashman. I received this from Page Street Kids Publishing, it comes out in September! I got so caught up in this book I was able to read over 60% of it today.
I was sad to leave today. It was so nice to be away from work and be out in nature. But I get to go home to see my bratty cats and have an audiobook all ready to go for the long ride. I really enjoyed Dumplin’ by Julie Murphy and I am so excited to listen to Puddin’ by Julie Murphy.
The ride was a little rough because I was feeling very car sick. I was able to get through 75 % of Puddin’ and I absolutely adore it. I so relate to Millie and there were lots of parts that had me tearing up.
With 2 days left in vacation there is a lot I need to do to prep for the upcoming work week. I had big plans for today to clean, unpack and grocery shop. What really happened today, I got my last #otspsecretsister package from round 8 , I have watched the sixth season of Orange is the New Black and cuddled in bed with my kittens. I plan on spending the rest of the day on the new round of #otspsecretsister prep, reading more of Uncharted by Erin Cashman and blogging!
Today is my kittens Gotcha Day! I cannot believe we have been living here for over a year and that I have had my babies for a year! Well today was another lazy day. I slept in, made pancakes, watched Shameless and went grocery shopping at Sam’s Club. I finished listening to Puddin’ by Julie Murphy as I unloaded all of my bulk groceries (hoping I don’t have to go shopping for awhile). The trip to the store was exhausting that I plan on spending the rest of the day reading and lounging before having to go back to work tomorrow.
