This was a perfect fluffy summery read! It had such a real feel to it, that it became so easy to identify and relate to all of the characters. I grew up on a lake and was really able to understand the feeling that comes with the summer time and all those things associated with summer, such as first loves, family drama, tanning and swimming endlessly, unforgettable memories…all those things that you would want to make a perfect summer. This summer at the beach house was no different for Belly. There was the ups and downs, the growing up and summer flings.
Throughout the book you experience everything through Belly’s perspective and although there was a good majority of the book that I was annoyed with her and thought she was immature and bratty, I was able to relate with her at times and understood her feelings and thoughts in the situations she faced. I have to admit I instantly feel in love with Conrad because that quiet brooding type is irresistible, but I also was a huge fan of the fun loving and humorous Jeremiah!
Jenny Han’s writing is so easy to breezy through and made it extremely difficult for me to set the books down because it completely sucked me into the story. This book definitely caused all sorts of feels. It took me back to the time of crushes and finding myself during the summer, discovery and even handling those difficult things life tends to throw at you.
