review

*I received this as an e-arc from netgalley in return for an honest review.*

This book. It has been like a week since I finished reading this and I think I have finally had enough time to reflect and collect my thought about this book. Mortal Danger took me on a roller coaster of emotions. The beginning of this story hit me really hard, I knew in ways what Edie was going through and it just brought a lot of feelings to the surface. After throwing that dagger at my heart Aguirre continued to draw me into the story with the suspense and mystery of what was to come next. She wrote this so well that there was always a question you were trying to answer and figure out that I just couldn’t put the book down because I had to know what was going on and what was going to happen next. I have to admit that there were points throughout the book that this did cause some confusion and I got a little lost in the intense plot and events.

Edie was an extremely dynamic character and her intelligence and quirkiness really resonated with me. Although there were times I found her annoying with her drive for vengeance and changing who she really was (I did understand where it came from, but still), she went through great growth and by the end of the book I felt that she realized what was important. I loved all the pop culture references she made and how sarcastic and witty she was. Her relationship with Kian was a little weird for me at first, but he is so dreamy! The abilities (he was kind of like a genie, but not) that Kian had were pretty awesome and the whole story behind his purpose and what he does was really unique and made for an intriguing book.

This was a unique read for me because it was the first time I have read a paranormal book with this type of immortals and paranormal characters. They created a very dynamic and interesting addition to the twists and turns taking place. It is really hard to exactly convey the overall concepts of this book, but I think it is worth a read. I think if I were to reread it I would like it even more than the first time. There were just a few issues I had and part of it was based on some grammar issues due to it being an Arc. But if you like urban paranormal and revenge this is a great choice for you to pick up when the book comes out in August!
