Top 5 2021 Adult Releases

In the past couple of years I have been putting together a Top 5 post for new releases as an end of year wrap up. (Check out the Top 5 2020 Releases I read!)I like to spilt up my top books of the year into backlist and new releases so that it better showcases the books I adored! If I didn’t do that I would be afraid new releases would overshadow all others I read. Since I read so many books this year, in particular so many romance books and adult books, it only seemed to make sense to also split up the top new releases! Overall this was such a great year for reading and I could not narrow down my top new releases to just 5! Therefore here is my Top 5 Adult 2021 Releases!

In no particular order….

Top 5 2021 Adult Releases

Under the Whispering door by T.J Klune

“Everyone loses their way at some point, and it’s not just because of their mistakes or the decisions they make. It’s because they’re horribly, wonderfully human. And the one thing I’ve learned about being human is that we can’t do this alone. When we’re lost, we need help to try to find our way again.”

T.J Klune is a magical genius. This story was beautiful and heartbreaking and something so original. This packed a punch with grief and love. It was also layered with humor and such an amazing setting! The ending had me literally bawling my eyes out and I just sat and stared at the wall for awhile after that because I couldn’t get over it.

Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir

“But I have to save humanity first. Stupid humanity. Getting in the way of my hobbies.”

Weir somehow writes epic novels that are filled with science, but still manages to layer it with mystery and humor. It was gripping from the very first page and the outcome of Ryland had me flying through the pages and it did not disappoint.

Girls Weekend by C.M Nascosta

“Bold of you to assume that taking off giant panties with my teeth isn’t my fetish”

This one is not for everyone, but if you adore romance with large Orcs running around in a nudist colony, this monster romp may be for you! I loved that C.M Nascosta was able to write a monster romance that was so sweet and somehow wholesome, but definitely filled with spice!

The Grump Who Stole Christmas by S. Doyle

“Are you putting me on?” I asked him. “Is this like some kind of humble country boy routine? Because I promise you, I’m not impressed. You know what would impress me? Changing the tire.” He glared at me then.”

This is not a typical book I would have picked up, but it was on KU and I was trying to read some holiday romances. And I am so happy I stumbled upon this one because it was a little bit Hallmark movie mixed with SPICE! I am not usually a fan of sweet contemporary romance, but this was everything I could want from a Christmas romance.  The banter and teasing between the two and the build up was so perfect! Paul was everything I need and want in life! The setting was too great and makes me wish I was in a cabin in the mountains. This is a must read this holiday season for those who love cute holiday romances!

Morning Glory Milking Farm by C. M Nascosta

“I’m a millennial, being anxious and guilty is my birthright, I guess, right?”

A second Nascosta book made it on my list and opened my eyes to a whole new genre of books I am becoming obsessed with. This is another one that is definitely not for everyone. I loved the humor of the milking farm and the whole situation Violet finds herself in. This was such a sweet small town romance while dealing with minotaur milking!

Top 5 Book Tropes I'm Over

We all have them. Those tropes that make us cringe as we are reading a book. The ones that cause us pain and make us second guess continuing with the book.
