Synopsis:
Meadow Woodson has been trained to survive. This is a prequel to The Murder Complex, by Lindsay Cummings, and it is set in a blood-soaked world where the murder rate is higher than the birth rate. For fans of Moira Young’s Dust Lands series, La Femme Nikita, and the movie Hanna. Meadow Woodson’s father calls it The Fear Trials, and it is a rite of passage in their family. Meadow is up against her brother Koi. The Fear Trials will both harden her and make her brave. If Meadow wins, she will get a weapon of her own and the right to leave the Woodsons’ houseboat without her father or mother at her side. Set in the violent, complex, and mysterious world of The Murder Complex, and introducing Meadow Woodson—a teenage girl trained to survive no matter what the cost—and her family, who are together for the last time on their houseboat in the Florida Everglades.
This was definitely (for me) a great attention grabber and really drew me into the story creating the need for me to go out to the bookstore like right NOW to buy The Murder Complex by Lindsay Cummings. I felt that the introduction to the world and issues being faced in the Shallows were all highlighted and relationships and characters were established, setting up perfectly for the first book. Lindsay Cummings did a fantastic job with this and was even able to throw some game changers into this short prequel novella and develop some great character growth for Meadow the main character in a short amount of time. There isn’t much more to say for the fact that I don’t want to give anything away so I will stop fangirling and leave you with this…Go purchase this prequel and than you can fangirl with me and we can read The Murder Complex next!!!

Sounds similar to the Hunger Games, but I love the dystopian genre so I will definitely try this and fangirl with you!
I loved The Murder Complex and definitely think it’s worth picking up. Haven’t read the novella yet but happy to hear it’s great:)
I’m happy to hear that you loved the murder complex because sometimes the prequels and novellas can be misleading . I can’t wait to read it!
