I don’t even have words right now! This book exceeded my expectations by leaps and bounds. It literally was a book of many firsts for me. This novel is the first “adult” book I have read, finished, understood and LOVED!
It kept me hooked the whole way through. He was answering questions before I knew I had them, making me laugh more than I think I have ever laughed during reading a book and was the first time I have ever screamed at a character in a book. I have always kept the yelling, screaming and comments of ” why are you doing that”, “No! don’t do that” etc. to a character in my head. But this book had me so invested and flustered that the trickster was being tricked. I literally screamed out loud at my book. (It’s times like this that I am happy I live alone so no one can look at me funny for the fact that I was talking to my book).
Scott Lynch writing was fantastically snarky and witty and I fell in love within the first few pages. I do not think I even have a bad thing to say about this book.
The Lies of Locke Lamora was highly entertaining. Props to Lynch for the style of writing that was so intriguing and beautifully laid out. He tells part of the story and then switches to events in the past. This helps to develop the world, issues and characters brilliantly. The world building was absolutely amazing and Lynch has a wonderful way with details. I also have to say the best part about “adult” novels is the language used. And Lynch sure made use of his curse vocabulary! I have to say I loved that the word ” jackassery” was used!

This novel has everything from thieves, fighting, comedy, death, revenge and some badass characters . It never let up throughout the novel. I highly recommend this to anyone. Especially if you enjoy beautifully written epic fantasy with lots of swearing and snarky characters!
