To All The Book I've Loved Before | 5 Books That Have Shaped My Life

With all the buzz going around the internet due to the release of the Netflix adaptation of To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, twitter is obsessed. While scrolling through the twitter feed I noticed all the tweets with people replacing words and making their own To All.. sayings. It gave me the idea for this blog post. In TATBILB Lara Jean writes 5 Love Letters to boys in her life she has been in love with. These boys have shaped her and when the letters get out they change her life. I feel like as an avid reader and being in love with books since I can remember (there are pictures of me at age 5 asleep in a bed filled with books) I thought I would write some short love letters to 5 books that I have loved and have had an impact on my life.
♣ Little House on the Prairie Series by Laura Ingalls Wilder
You were the first book series that I feel in love with. I was so inspired by the life and adventure that Laura and her family had. I was first introduced to you by my mom and she would read you with me and it was when we spent special time together and created a bond between us. I have reread you multiple times and when I revisit the stories it is like going home.
♣ Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson
You were the first book I read that made me feel like I wasn’t alone. That I was not the only one suffering with this issue. I felt such a connection with Lia and it made me realize what I had been struggling with and that I was worth more than my struggle. A story that reminded me to take it one step at a time and to keep fighting.
♣ Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll
You have found a deep place within my heart. You are like happiness, curiosity adventure and the longing for finding oneself. You remind me of child innocence and to keep that alive always. Whenever life gets a little too hard I know I can turn to you and escape for a little while.
♣ The Giver by Lois Lowry
You are an odd choice for me to have loved I believe. I know there are many things said about you in both the negative and positive, but you are one that has stuck with me. I have reread you 5+ times and each time I have learned something new and discovered new meanings of your words. It has made me question the society in which I live in compared to that of your stories and reminded me of the importance of being different, following your dreams and that its okay to stand out.
♣ Volition by Lily Paradis
You were my first for quite a few things. You were the first book I ever had the chance to beta read and helped me to create a relationship with an author. It made me think that I would really like to be more involved in the book community and that I enjoy reviewing books and sharing the love I have of books. I was so drawn to the darkness within the story and reminded that even with darkness you can find light. It also really introduced me to New Adult and the love I have for books in that category.
I would love to hear about 5 books that have had an impact on your life or see some love letters that you might write to some books you have read!
