Well it is another week and that means another Top Ten Tuesday post! I am going to try to follow the prompt the best I can, but I am also going to try and make sure it won’t be the same that everyone else posts about. The question that goes along with this weeks topic is what websites, podcasts, apps, etc. do you use that make your reading life better? I find this question very subjective because everyone wants something different from their reading and find that different things make they reading life better or worse. But to not drag it out anymore here are my Top Online Resources for Book Lovers !
Top Online Resources for Book Lovers
Book Sirens is a book review platform very similar to Netgalley which has ARCs and recently published books. The one difference is many of the books are self-published or lesser known. It has a ton of different options and genres as well as different deadlines for the books to be read by. One of the other things I really enjoy about this site is when you sign up it does some analysis of your reading that it pulls from Goodreads. It tells you things like the top topics of books you have read and reviewed even top character types from your read books.
I haven’t used Storygraph much, but really love its features and elements. It is suppose to be an alternative to Goodreads. It imports your data from Goodreads to start with if you have a Goodreads and want to switch over (I did it during the beta run and never kept up with it so all my data is off) I love that it provides stats and also allows you to set your reading preferences for book recommendations.
All the data pulled from the community reviews to give information like moods, pace, characters, plot etc is such a fun element! It also has a recommendation section that allows you to answer some question of what you are in the mood to read and provides books options.
This is like a given, right? Libby is the app used by some libraries for borrowing ebooks and audiobooks! This is a life saver to me, allowing me to borrow audiobooks from the library so that I can read while cleaning or on long drives. I definitely would not read as many books a year if I didn’t listen to audiobooks. I love the option to read books without spending money when I am not sure about physically buying them. This app is made for someone on a budget!
Discord is such an awesome resource to talk about others about books, join book clubs or discover new recommendations. So many people in the book community have discords for different genres or books. I mostly lurk in the background on a lot of them, but have been able to discover new books and authors by checking out the channels and posts on those discords! Its also a way to make some bookish friends that like and read the same type of books as you so you have someone to gush with!
So some might not see this as a resource, but for me as a book lover any site that has great options and prices on books is a winning resource in my eyes! Second Sale is an amazing independently owned online book store! Books start as low as $3.88 and the used books were in great condition and shipped quickly! For those who are trying not to support the big monster corporations, this is a great alternative! Get 10% off Used Book orders of $10 or more, with free shipping by using code: FALLING10 !
Another great site for great quality used books as well as collectible editions/rare books. You can never have too many online used book sites, well at least in my option. Thriftbooks also has some great reward programs that can earn you free books! Like by joining now and spending $30 it could earn you a free book! Check it out and sign up now!
Basmo is a recent app I had discovered (someone I follow was talking about it) and I haven’t utilized it as much as I should but has some really awesome features. It allows you to track your reading progress with notes etc while reading a book and also has overall goals and stats section! There is a free version, but to get all the good stuff it costs some money.
Bookish First is such a fun website that gives you the chance to read the first chapter or so of selected upcoming releases. While doing so you can right a first impression review and earn points for a book of your choice or to be entered into a raffle for the book you read and reviewed first looks for. You can also write reviews for past books on their site to earn points towards a free book! Referral-Code: 2e75b6be21e15bb91
So this is part online resources and part online shopping must have for book lovers! I love Megan at Little Inklings Designs work and have bought her Novel Companions and Always Fully Booked Planners (which are on sale right now!) But she also adds some free printable which are perfect if you have a digital planner or journal etc!
What are some top online resources for book lovers that you know about?

Ooh, BookSiren sounds good! I love supporting Indie authors and books. Most of the books I review are from them. 🙂

I wish I had more hours in the day to read because they have so many amazing sounding books
Ooff that is a difficult question.. I don’t use that much things ? beside the mainstream things like yeah I have discord, goodread, libby and my kindle app but that’s about it.
I keep pushing it off, but I do need to convert to storygraph eventually 😅 Basmo is quite neat also ! though my way of doing right now is just update in GR and write in my notes in preparation to my review.. which has been working so far.
I should convert to story graph too it’s just time consuming at this point for me since I didn’t keep up with it
I recommend awesomebooks.com for used books. Happy reading! My TTT https://readwithstefani.com/10-books-about-books-on-my-tbr/
BookSiren is a resource I had never hear about! I need to get more involved in Discord but, goodness, there is just so much to keep up with sometimes, you know?
I only just discovered Discord and need to explore it more.
Here is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thank you!
I never thought of Discord having a bookish community! I know it more for gaming, much like twitch.

Libby is a great app! I’ve used others to listen to audiobooks and they’re just not as seamless as Libby.
Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!

Great list, several of these are new to me and I will be looking into them further. Thanks for sharing! Here is my link: https://cindysbookcorner.blogspot.com/2021/10/top-ten-tuesday-online-resources-for.html
Wow, it’s pretty cool that you pick images before writing your post. This is exactly why I enjoy reading about other bloggers’ creative processes. I myself leave the images for the last. Thanks for sharing!
