12 Days of Books | 2017 Christmas Book Tag

Your text here-3

I created this post a few years ago, you can check out the embarrassing 1st post here! I had done many tags since I have started book blogging and wanted to add to the fun of the season by creating my own! I thought this song was very fitting for a tag and hope everyone enjoys it! I worked really hard trying to come up with categories that fit into each section of the song, its corny and some of it is a stretch, but whatever!  If you decide to participate and do this tag I would love for you to leave your link so that I may see the choices you made. I really tried to pick from a variety of books I read this year, but I didn’t read a lot so there are some repeats. Sorry.

On the first day of Christmas
my true love sent to me:
A Partridge in a Pear Tree  : The Partridge Stood Alone In The Pear Tree? What is Your Favorite Stand Alone of 2017?
I am pretty sure this is staying a stand alone, RoseBlood by A.G Howard. I absolutely adore A.G Howard and this book did not disappoint! It is inspired by the Phantom of the Opera and took an interesting twist to the story.

On the second day of Christmas
my true love sent to me:
Two Turtle Doves : Love Is In The Air, Who Is You OTP?
OTPs are always hard for me because I end up shipping characters with myself. But I think my OTP for this year is Freddie and Rain from Haven by Mary Lindsey

On the third day of Christmas
my true love sent to me:
Three French Hens :  In The Spirit Of Threes, What Is The Best Trilogy Your Have Read?
I have been terrible at completing trilogies/series lately and so I will have to stick with the answer I used a few years ago. – I absolutely fell in love with the Splintered Trilogy by A.G Howard. I am usually weird about trilogies because I think they always fall apart at the second book and for most the third book just fails all expectations. That was not the case for these books. They were fantastic and everything I wanted from an Alice in Wonderland retelling!

On the fourth day of Christmas
my true love sent to me:
Four Calling Birds : Since Series Usually Consist of Four or More Books What Is Your Favorite Series?
Like I stated above I have been horrible at completing series recently, but I have started a few and working on some others that although not completed I absolutely adore! Black Dagger Brotherhood by J.R Ward and the Mercy Thompson Series by Patricia Briggs!

On the fifth day of Christmas
my true love sent to me:
Five Golden Rings : One Ring To Rule Them All! Who is Your Favorite Villain/Antagonist?
Although she might not be considered a villain by some my favorite villain from 2017 reads was Anna from Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake. She was badass and intense.

On the sixth day of Christmas
my true love sent to me:
Six Geese a Laying : Creation Is A Beautiful Thing! What is Your Favorite World/World-Building?
Although sometimes I struggled to really picture the setting I thought that the world created by Ann Leckie in Ancillary Justice was amazing! It was so unique and so intriguing.

On the seventh day of Christmas
my true love sent to me:
Seven Swans a Swimming: Who Needs Seven Swans When All It Takes Is One Good Animal Sidekick To Make A Hero Rock! Who Is Your Favorite Animal Sidekick?
I would definitely have to say the animals in RoseBlood by A.G Howard! They were definitely entertaining.

On the eighth day of Christmas
my true love sent to me:
Eight Maids a Milking: Milk Is So 18th Century! Which Book or Series Takes Beverages/Food To A Whole New Level?
This is always a stumper for me. I did not read enough fantasy this year (which usually included unique food and beverages) and really think I just don’t pay enough attention to food. I know there was some pretty interesting things in Ancillary Justice by Ann Leckie but cannot remember specifically.

On the ninth day of Christmas
my true love sent to me:
Nine Ladies Dancing : Dancing is Just One Skill of a Lady! Who is Your Favorite Kickass Female Lead?
I absolutely adored Mercy Thompson from the Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs. She is so badass and is a mechanic. She does her own thing and doesn’t care what anyone else thinks of her.  But my favorite female lead of the books I read this year was Kate from Vengeance Road by Erin Bowman!

On the tenth day of Christmas
my true love sent to me:
Ten Lords a Leaping: Leaping Lords? How About Who Is Your Favorite Leading Lad?
There were quite a few amazing leading lads from the books I read this year. I read a lot more romancy type books (mainly paranormal romance) than I normally do so there were some swoon worthy and just perfect guys. Some honorable mentions include Rain from Haven by Mary Lindsey, Rishi from When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon, Reece from Black Bird of the Galows by Meg Kassel and Ben from By A Charm And A Curse by Jamie Questell. But the man that stole my heart and completely won me over was Oz from Nowhere But Here by Katie McGarry!

On the eleventh day of Christmas
my true love sent to me:
Eleven Pipers Piping: Where Would We Be Without Music? What Is Your Favorite Book or Bookish Thing That Deals With Music? (It can be about music, reference music a lot etc.)
In the category of music I would have to say This Savage Song by V.E Schwab does an amazing job incorporating music and it has such a big part in the story and for the main character. Then of course because I do not know how many times I can say it before it gets annoying but RoseBlood by A.G Howard. I mean it is a retelling of Phantom of the Opera!

On the twelfth day of Christmas
my true love sent to me:
12 Drummers Drumming: Drum Roll Please…………………….What Is Your Favorite Read of This Year?
Like any true book lover could pick just one. I will be posting my top reads of 2017 soon!

I hope you participate in this tag and leave me links to your answers! Happy Holidays!
