I feel like it is a common theme with many in the book community, but there are always things that cause us to get into book slumps, contemplate continuing to blog and analyzing our reading habits. One thing I have noticed is that I buy so many books, many based on the synopsis and then they sit on my shelf forever. I was trying to figure out why I haven’t picked them up yet when I thought it seemed interesting enough to buy. I really think an issue I have is I fall into the hype and feel like I need to read all of the books everyone is talking about. Many of these books I read and enjoy, but there is also a good percent that I really only read because everyone else was and ended up not enjoying them. I want to get back to reading and enjoying books because I want to read them or I have some interest in the story, author etc. Some of my favorite books I read last year are underrated and not really talked about, which I have no idea why they aren’t. But they are from smaller publishing houses and don’t get all the exposure and in the hands of as many booktubers etc that really guide a lot of the book community in my opinion.
These books have under 5000 ratings on Goodreads and have been sitting on my shelves for far too long (while at least a majority of them) A few are newer to me but have been out for awhile and I have heard little to nothing about them. I feel like part of my duty as a book reader/reviewer/blogger is finding the hidden books and telling everyone about them!
The Tiger’s Daughter by K. Arsenault Rivera
The Glasswright’s Apprentice by Mindy L Klasky
Maid of Secrets by Jennifer McGowan
Avalon by Mindee Arnett
The Witches of Glass Castle by Gabriella Lepore
The Whispers of the Fallen by J.D Netto
The Cure For Dreaming by Cat Winters
Between Worlds by Skip Brittenham
Nowhere Near You by Leah Thomas
Between the Blade and the Heart by Amanda Hocking

Have you read any of these books? What are some hidden gem books you have discovered? What are some underrated books you want to read in 2019?

This happens to me all the time! I fall into the hype and I end up not liking a book. I always feel like I’m missing something because that book didn’t work out for me. I love the cover of The Tiger’s Daughter has such a beautiful cover. I hope you are able to read these this year.

I hope you enjoy them! A few covers definitely caught my eye.
I like how you changed it up with this topic! Underrated books don’t get enough credit!
Thanks! And I agree. There are so many books I love that I think don’t get enough credit and I just want everyone to enjoy them as well.
Yay for Cat Winters! Is that the first book you will have read by her? My husband also liked Avalon as a fun sci-fi book. Can’t wait to see what you think of these
No it’s not! I have enjoyed some of her other books and also have an arc of her new one. I really want to be able to read all her books this year. Thanks!
You’re welcome 😀
I’d say this are underrated, I’ve only heard of two of them, and read one.
Which one have you read?
The only one that I read wad Between the Blade and the Heart, I got an ARC of it before it came out.
