12 Underrated Books I Want To Read In 2019

I feel like it is a common theme with many in the book community, but there are always things that cause us to get into book slumps, contemplate continuing to blog and analyzing our reading habits. One thing I have noticed is that I buy so many books, many based on the synopsis and then they sit on my shelf forever. I was trying to figure out why I haven’t picked them up yet when I thought it seemed interesting enough to buy. I really think an issue I have is I fall into the hype and feel like I need to read all of the books everyone is talking about. Many of these books I read and enjoy, but there is also a good percent that I really only read because everyone else was and ended up not enjoying them. I want to get back to reading and enjoying books because I want to read them or I have some interest in the story, author etc. Some of my favorite books I read last year are underrated and not really talked about, which I have no idea why they aren’t. But they are from smaller publishing houses and don’t get all the exposure and in the hands of as many booktubers etc that really guide a lot of the book community in my opinion.

These books have under 5000 ratings on Goodreads and have been sitting on my shelves for far too long (while at least a majority of them) A few are newer to me but have been out for awhile and I have heard little to nothing about them. I feel like part of my duty as a book reader/reviewer/blogger is finding the hidden books and telling everyone about them!

  1. This happens to me all the time! I fall into the hype and I end up not liking a book. I always feel like I’m missing something because that book didn’t work out for me. I love the cover of The Tiger’s Daughter has such a beautiful cover. I hope you are able to read these this year.

    1. Thanks! And I agree. There are so many books I love that I think don’t get enough credit and I just want everyone to enjoy them as well.
