This is a series is an older one, but one I think about a lot. Is it perfect, no. But there was something so unique about it, that I haven’t read a book/series quite like it. This is a series that I think would be so fun to see as a tv show. I need to get around to reading the spinoff series as soon as I finish rereading this series! The Uglies is such a nostalgic series for me. Now I am going to give you 5 Reasons to Read The Uglies Series by Scott Westerfeld!
Synopsis
Tally is about to turn sixteen, and she can’t wait. In just a few weeks she’ll have the operation that will turn her from a repellent ugly into a stunning pretty. And as a pretty, she’ll be catapulted into a high-tech paradise where her only job is to have fun.
But Tally’s new friend Shay isn’t sure she wants to become a pretty. When Shay runs away, Tally learns about a whole new side of the pretty world—and it isn’t very pretty. The authorities offer Tally a choice: find her friend and turn her in, or never turn pretty at all. Tally’s choice will change her world forever….

I love this post!!! I’ve loved the Uglies series for years and years. I think they are working on coming out with a tv show!!
Omg a tv show would be amazing!
Honestly I can’t believe this one doesn’t have a TV show or a movie series yet. I think Dystopian YA really kicked off with The Hunger Games; maybe Uglies was just too early?
Yeah I feel like it got completely looked over, but I think would be such a fun one with all the hoverboards etc
Loved this! I re-read these books last year and I was completely shocked by how much I loved Uglies… the sad thing was with each passing book the less I liked them. Like Uglies was top notch, Pretties was good, Specials was okay. The series just lost the same greatest the first book had!
I agree I do feel like the latter books didn’t live up to their full potential
