Underrated Books I Want to Read in 2021

I created a list of underrated books I wanted to read in 2019, and 2020 and kind of forgot about it, but in 2020 was able to manage to read a few. And by a few I mean 3.  A big focus of mine in 2021, like many years before is reading books that I am interested in and not falling prey to the over hyped and over talked about books in the book community. I really think an issue I have is I fall into the hype and feel like I need to read all of the books everyone is talking about. Many of these books I read and enjoy, but there is also a good percent that I really only read because everyone else was and ended up not enjoying them.

I want to get back to reading and enjoying books because I want to read them or I have some interest in the story, author etc. Some of my favorite books I read in the last few years are underrated and not really talked about, which I have no idea why they aren’t. But they are from smaller publishing houses and don’t get all the exposure and in the hands of as many booktubers etc that really guide a lot of the book community in my opinion.

It is one of my goals for 2020 to read 10 underrated books. This list is going to be a loose plan of the ones I want to read. Some will be reappearing from prior years and some are newer to the list. I have found that in order to read 10 I need to have more than 10 options in case I am not feeling one! These are also just physical books I own. I plan on doing something totally different for my ebooks.

These books have under 5000 ratings on Goodreads and have been sitting on my shelves for far too long (while at least a majority of them) A few are newer to me but have been out for awhile and I have heard little to nothing about them. I feel like part of my duty as a book reader/reviewer/blogger is finding the hidden books and telling everyone about them!
