5 Underrated Books Published in 2019
The Rogue King by Abigail Owens
A steamy, action packed paranormal romance story filled with sass, dragon politics, fights and tons of paranormal creatures! My oh my, I never thought I could want more dragon shifters and shifter romances than after completing this book and falling down quite a deep Paranormal Romance hole. I do not know how I have never heard of Abigail Owen before or any of her books.Overall this book is a great first book that is filled with action, multiple fights, unexpected twists and characters you cannot help but to completely adore.
This book has my of my new all time favorite characters and the relationship they have with Kasia is so heart warming.
A quick, engrossing story that revolves around an axe murder house that will send chills down your spine and keep you from turning the lights off at night. I was pleasantly surprised with Rust’s book that took me for a wild, creepy ride that shocked me and was full of secrets and twists. If you are looking for a fun, unique story that involves some paranormal elements, creepy voices, and axe murder house and secrets. This is the book for you.
Bring Me Their Hearts by Sara Wolf was my favorite book of 2018. It ended in such a way that had me needing the sequel that second I finished it. I had such high expectations for this sequel and it was my most anticipated book of 2019. I feel like this book definitely fell into that middle book slump.Wolf wove together a story with characters that had such big personalities and also a little morally gray. She was able to write a story full of mystery, sass, and surprising twists in regards to character choices.
A dark atmospheric and gothic tale that is worthy of Edgar Allan Poe! Overall I was enthralled with the dark, grim and all things macabre that are woven throughout Poe’s young life. The gothic atmosphere that are so familiar in Poes writing is strongly apparent in this story.
If I were to give this book a color it would be dark gray. I visualized the whole story in my head as a black and white and I loved that aspect of the book. It was a great depiction of how young Poes life could have been and shaped and let you imagine how his writing came about.
Thomas Wildus and the Book of Sorrows by J.M Bergen
A fast paced, gripping, chosen one trope story that is great for fans of A Wrinkle In Time, Percy Jackson and Harry Potter! Every time I read a middle grade book I get that same feeling of familiarity and comfort. It is like coming home. I think it is the innocence and just pure fun and adventure that can be found in a middle grade story.
Thomase Wildus and the Book of Sorrows was no exception. Overall this was a cute middle grade story, that was packed full of action, mystery and magic! I think this is a great book for all ages, but definitely perfect for young teens that need a magically escape from reality.
