Current Reads| First Week of 2019

current reads #1

It has been a strange first week of the new year. I feel like I have been in a haze all week. Although I enjoyed the extra days off from work the rest of the work week seemed to drag on forever and I have been so exhausted. I was not able to get much reading accomplished because I spent a lot of free time trying to get my new blog platform and design all set up. I found that whenever I did sit down to read my eyes become heavy and I would fall asleep. While getting my hair done last night I was able to get some more reading done of my current read, Internment by Samira Ahmed, which is an ARC that has a publication date of 3.19.19. So far I am very happy with it beginning my first read of the next year, although it is a quite scary read due to the way our own current political climate. It is marketed as a contemporary fiction book and I do agree with that, but I would also say it is slightly dystopian, at least I want to label it that because I do not want to believe it could ever be real.

I am still finishing up listening to my reread of Pretties by Scott Westerfeld. I am almost completed with it and have to hopes of continuing with the reread of the series. With the recent release of the new book in the world of the Uglies series, I wanted to dive back into the world to remember what happened. It has been a long time since I read the Uglies series by Scott Westerfeld, it was one of the first YA series I ever read. I also have a few other audiobooks checked out from the library that I might pick up as well.

After I complete Internment, which will hopefully be before the weekend ends, I plan to start Keys to the Demon Prison by Brandon Mull. Over the past few months I have been binge reading this series and have fallen in love. I cannot believe I haven’t picked up the books in the Fablehaven series before. It is such a fun adventure, full of surprises and mythical/magical creatures! I cannot wait to see where the series goes and what comes of Kendra and Seth. Also I can’t wait to pick up the first two books in the spin off series as soon as I complete this book.

I believe I am starting off strong with my book choices for 2019! What have you read or are currently reading so far in 2019?

    1. I do really like it. I have been rereading it by listening to it as an audiobook so I dont know if that is helping with my enjoyment of it.
