Genre: YA, Fantasy, Paranormal

Series:  Harry Potter Series                                            Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (#1)

Synopsis:                                                               The Dursleys were so mean and hideous that summer that all Harry Potter wanted was to get back to the Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry. But just as he’s packing his bags, Harry receives a warning from a strange, impish creature named Dobby who says that if Harry Potter returns to Hogwarts, disaster will strike.                                                                                                                    And strike it does. For in Harry’s second year at Hogwarts, fresh torments and horrors arise, including an outrageously stuck-up new professor, Gilderoy Lockhart, a spirit named Moaning Myrtle who haunts the girls’ bathroom, and the unwanted attentions of Ron Weasley’s younger sister, Ginny.                                                                                              But each of these seem minor annoyances when the real trouble begins, and someone — or something — starts turning Hogwarts students to stone. Could it be Draco Malfoy, a more poisonous rival than ever? Could it possibly be Hagrid, whose mysterious past is finally told? Or could it be the one everyone at Hogwarts most suspects… Harry Potter himself! [Goodreads]

Well, on my quest to finish reading the Harry Potter series for the first time I have to say I was quite fond of this book (a lot more than I thought I would be) I know that the books are always better than the movie, but the second movie was one of my least favorites so I thought that would affect the way I felt about this book. These books are packed full of details that the movies definitely miss out on. Reading this book was like learning the story for the first time and it was absolutely wonderful! Another thing that made reading this book even better was that I got Autumn @Kitty Cat Reads to read some of it to me! I don’t know what else to really say about this book. Trying to collect my thoughts and create a semi-review on a book that is so widely known and something I am so late to the club reading is extremely difficult. So I will just say I can’t believe I didn’t read these books earlier, they are so youthful and fun and although I didn’t read them when I was younger it makes me all nostalgic about my childhood!

  1. I wasn’t a huge fan of the second movie either, but I absolutely loved the second book. Unlike the other two commenters, book three is tied with book five for my favorite of the series! I’ll definitely be excited to hear what you think about it! 😀
