With the recent releases of two teaser Mockingjay trailers I thought I would take a moment and comment on my reactions/thoughts! I will start by saying that I do not really remember much of what happens in Mockingjay by Susan Collins. I read it when it was first released and for some reason most of the events have slipped my mind, but that doesn’t mean I am any less excited for the upcoming movie! (I also do plan on re-reading Mockingjay before the movie is out.) If you haven’t already seen the trailers I you can watch them now!
Let’s just start with WOW! I love the concept of it being like a broadcast that those living in the capital would see. I like that they are mainly just snow talking. It is very simple put packs a big punch! In the first one Peeta is looking away and than in the second trailer he is staring right at the screen and I think that really foreshadows and adds to the events that take place in the book. I will say one thing that isn’t really trailer related, but I am upset that they are making it into two movies. I am not a fan of the split up of last books for the movie industry to make more money, but I digress.
I have to admit I squealed in the second trailer when Beetee appeared! Those three words are so strong “The Mockingjay Lives!” Also look at Johanna with that sassy hand on the hip! (She is one of my favorites!)
I love the adaptations of The Hunger Games and Catching Fire. I feel like for what they have to work with and the capabilities of putting words to the big screen, the movies were well done. Like with most things there is always room for improvement, but I highly enjoy them and can’t wait for the movie to come out!
What are your thoughts on the trailers and the movie adaptions in general? I would love to hear other’s thoughts and opinions (or complete fangirling).

I think a big reason why they divide the last book is because, more often than not, final books have a ridiculous page count, therefore tons of information and action and stuff going on in it. If they tried to stuff everything that happened in final books into one movie, we’d either leave dissatisfied with the amount they’d had to cut out or we’d be in the theatre for like 4-6 hours. I don’t think ANYONE wants that haha.
And I totally understand that. I just thought that Mockingjay wasn’t one of those that was long enough etc. to be turned into two parts. I would rather sit and watch a two and a half hour long movie than and hour some and than have to wait almost a year for the next one. But thats just my opinion.

And like you, I’m not sure why Mockingjay deserves the split, I didn’t recall the book being too cumbersome for a good 2.5-hour movie. They managed to streamline the first two movies after all.
Exactly haha. Whenever books are set to be split into two movies I just always think about The Lord of The Ring books (which I mean is technically one whole book not three but are marketed as three so…) each got one movie and those are some chunky books.
Yeah, LOTR managed to curtail the important stuff into three movies, just like the books. Why, then, they chose to split The Hobbit (a SMALL book in comparison) to three movies is just…another one of those things I do not see the point of other than monetary gain XD
