New to Me Authors 2020

new to me authors 2020

It has again been another year of discovering new books and new authors. It was fun as I went to go start this post and look at my picks from last year of those new to me authors I fell in love with in 2019. Many of the books I read this year were written by those authors as well! But let focus on this year. I continued to explore my reading tastes in 2020 and begun to read books and genres that years ago I would have gone nowhere near. I think that is whats so great about books, as you grow and your tastes change there is always a book out there for you! I’ve expanded on my reading in the romance genre, which is shocking to me as well. But don’t fear I read a ton of fantasy and paranormal books as well! I have to say I read a ton of amazing books this year and there are many authors that didn’t make this list. For some I enjoyed the book and writing, but because of the genre in which their currently published book(s) are in I am not sure if I would read another one unless the synopsis intrigued me. So here are my newly discovered new to me authors 2020 edition!

T.J. Klune

I had hear of Klune before, but really took notice when everyone was talking about his recent release. I do not even know where to start with The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune, this book gave me all the feels. It reminded me of the episode of Scooby Doo, Scooby Doo and the Ghoul School, which by the way is my favorite episode of Scooby Doo!

This book was so whimsical, full of love and so unique! It has convinced me that I need to read everything that Klune publishes! The fact that his stories are queer is definitely an added bonus!

Katee Robert

Talk about hot and steamy writing! I have only read 2 books by Robert so far but have many more waiting for me on my kindle! The books are sexy and dare I say, fabulously smutty! I cannot wait to pick up more of her works, especially in the Wicked Villains series!

N.J. Walters

I picked up Fury Unleashed, the first book in the Forgotten Brotherhood series by N.J Walters on a whim. I received an email to review an ARC and the cover completely had me sold. It definitely filled my paranormal romance loving heart. I adored the concept and the pairings are so unique and interesting. After reading it I went down a hole of purchasing Walters backlist! I definitely feel like Walters will appear on my read list next year!

Tracy Wolff

Wolff had made my early 2008-2014 self very happy! Her new books in the Crave series, brought back that love for vampires and teen angst. (Not that my love for vampires ever left, but it was definitely reignited) I am interested to see where the rest of the Crave series goes and what else Wolff has planned in the YA realm.

Kit Rocha

One of my favorite books of the year and one that completely shocked my was Deal With The Devil by Kit Rocha. It combined all the elements I adore1 It was post apocalyptic/sci-fi futuristic, sassy &witty banter, action, kick ass women and romance! I knew after finishing that book that I have to check out their other work!

Linsey Miller

I have always seen Miller’s books and heard people talking about them, but it wasn’t until I read Belle Révolte that I realized this was an author I wanted more from. There were familiar themes and elements found in a lot of YA, but it still felt so unique and I adored they strong females and LGBTQIA rep!

Tessa Dare

With the big focus on historical romances this year in the romance book community, I just had to start picking up some historical. I was not disappointed when I read The Duchess Deal by Tessa Dare! It was filled with humor that I really loved and the witty banter. The introduction to the other woman in the Girl Meets Duke series really made my decision to continue with this series so easy. I am looking forward to some more humor filled historical romances by Dare!

Do you have any new to me authors that you have discovered this year?

  1. I have Klune and Rocha on my TBR but, so far, I haven’t read either one of them. But I hope to do better next year! To me 2020 was the year in which I finally read a Becky Chambers book (The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet was really good!) and I am really glad to have finally done it!
