There were a lot of different goals and challenges that I set out to accomplish in 2022. Some I excelled at and others I came up short. I am creating a post about my 2022 Reading Stats and thought it would be fun to also post about reflecting on 2022 reading goals. On those things I set out to achieve this past year and the outcomes of how well I did or didn’t do.
Reflecting on 2022 Reading Goals
This year has been rough and not at all what I was expecting at all. It was so great being back in my home state and I got to see my family and friends so much this year which helped me get through a horrible situation at work. There were times this year that was so hard to try and focus on reading and I got a lot of my reading done via audiobook while doing things like driving, cooking or cleaning. I tried to put less pressure on myself for reading goals and just read the books I wanted to which lead to me DNFing a lot more than usual. I ended up getting a new job towards the end of the year and it has been so much better for my mental health and has given me so much more time for reading so I have high hopes for 2023!
Now back to reflecting on 2022 reading goals! Below are a summary of those goals/challenges I set for myself and the results. If you would like to see more details check out the posts from above.
Read at least 75 books
Complete 5 Unfinished Series
I feel like I put less pressure on myself this year and was able to actually finish so many series and start and finish some as well! Check out my Series Read 2022.
Work On My Blog Content
With my job consuming my life this year I didn’t get to work on this on much as I had hoped. I did spend some time updating posts and making sure the SEO is better. I also was able to participate in blogmas this year!
Read at least 5 BIG books
{I am counting this as over 500 pages}.
I was able to read 3 books that were over 500 pages, which is one better than last year. This is a goal that makes me really sad I didn’t do better with because I wanted to read so many fantasy books and many of them have over 500 pages.
Tackle My TBR
With listening to audiobooks I really tried to focus on books I own and although not a very large number compared to the total number of books I read this year. I feel like it was a little better than years past possibly being 25 books off my TBR. Saying that makes me feel so bad. Like I have over 400 books on my shelves and 75% of the books I read were borrowed. *facepalm*
Read At Least 10 Underrated Books
I read so many books this year that I wish more people were reading and talking about. I read so many more than 10! I will have to make a list at some point, but I did make a post about my Top 5 Underrated Books Read in 2022 !
Grow My Bookstagram
I feel like I could have put a lot of more time and effort into this but I have gotten some more followers this year! I didnt keep track of exactly how many but it has to be close to 100.
Find Some New Bookstores & Coffee Shops
I didn’t find many bookstores as there are not a ton around me but I did discover so many new coffee shops! There are still some more to adventure out to, but I really loved the ones I found. One even does coffee flights!
Make Time For Reading
This year was rough for me. It was a lot moving back to my home state and working the same job in a new location with new challenges. And man was it a challenge and took up a lot of my time and mental stability. I tried to make sure I was listening to audiobooks every chance I got and the majority of my reading was done that way this year. But now with a new job and getting myself back in a better place mentally the reading has increased and my hope is that will continue into 2023.
22 Books in 2022
It is almost laughable that I continue to make these lists every year and throw it out the window as soon as I post it. I had all the hopes of reading these 22 books in 2022. I ended up doing a lot better than last year even if I DNF’d a few. I read 1 and DNF’d 2 for a total of 3 off the list.
Here is to 2023 being a more successful year for accomplishing reading goals!
Did you do some reflecting on 2022 reading goals you set for yourself? How did you fare? Did you set any for 2023?

I’m in the process of figuring out my 2023 reading goals so it was helpful to read about your 2022 goals! Thanks for sharing about them! I would never have thought to take a screenshot of the GoodReads Congratulations thingy, but thanks to you I did take a screenshot of it for my end of year reading summary.
Good luck with your 2023 goals!
I’m glad to be of help!
