2022 Reading Stats

I think it is fun to see a break down of books read in a year. So I put together some fun graphs and charts for my 2022 Reading Stats! I never got around to doing this last year as I had a lot going on with the move back to Michigan. You can check out my 2020 Reading Stats . As well to see how different my reading years were from type of books I read to how many I completed! I was able to complete 96 books (*as of 12/29) this year! I also recently shared my Reflections on my 2022 Goals!

2022 Reading Stats

I feel like looking at the books read per month is always really telling to what was going on with my life and the time I had to dedicate towards reading! The beginning of the year I always try to start off strong, July I took some vacation and Nov/Dec I started a new job and had time off for the holidays!

Life has been challenging this year and I feel like that show in the reading format of the books I read this year. Due to that I have had to find any way I can to read. That leads to a lot of audiobooks because I can listen while working, doing chores or even before I go to bed. You can check out my post about How I Read Audiobook! With e-arcs and kindle unlimited, I have managed to fly through many ebooks. As well as my dive into smutty novellas that are short ebooks! I need to step up my physical book gave as that is my favorite format to read.

As usual I gravitated towards shorter books, but always seem to fall into the realm of 301-500 as I feel like that is the length of many novels.

This stat also makes me a little sad. The fact that I have so many books on my shelves at home that I didn’t get to this year. I listened to so many audiobooks this year. And Kindle Unlimited has added to my borrowing of books that are not on my shelves. I do have to say I track them the way I read them and this year I did borrow a ton of audiobooks that I own physically so I was able to get to some on my TBR.

I feel like my reading taste continued to change a little this year. I’ve been more drawn to the romance category, mainly I think because they are quick read for me as well as so easy to comprehend and consume via audiobook! I wish I had read more fantasy. I hope to diversity my reading next year in all ways, but also in genres I read.

I feel like although I enjoy YA and Middle Grade, my reading continues to shift towards adult books as it has over the past few years.

It is always so interesting to look at the graph of my ratings. I am happy to see that there were so many that were 4 and above, but would love for the number of 3 and below lower next year so that I am focusing my time on books I love!

I am happy to see that the majority of the books I read were Backlist books as years before I feel like I have just focused on the new shiny releases and not the other books on my TBR. I also reread quite a few books this year in order to get up to speed to finish series!

Did you keep track of any of your 2022 reading stats? How many books did you read overall this year?
