2020 Reading Stats

2020 reading stats

I think it is fun to see a break down of books read in a year. So I put together some fun graphs and charts for my 2020 Reading Stats! I also did this last year and found it so much fun to look at the stats. Even the differences from one year to the next! You can check out my 2019 Reading Stats . As well to see how different my reading years were from type of books I read to how many I completed! I was able to complete 113 books (*as of 12/29) this year which way more than last year! I also recently shared my Reflections on my 2020 goals and my experience with reading in 2020!

Reading Stats

This has been a constant the past few years. Especially with reading more romance type books this year. They are mainly written by women. So this comes as no surprise.

Life has been the same this year, if not even busier. Due to that I have had to find any way I can to read. That leads to a lot of audiobooks because I can listen while working, doing chores or even before I go to bed. You can check out my post about How I Read Audiobook! I also had the goal of reading more of my ebooks this year. With e-arcs and kindle unlimited, I have managed to fly through many ebooks. As well as my dive into smutty novellas that are short ebooks!

With this year being crazy, but wanting to read books, I gravitated towards shorter books. This year I was able to read a couple of larger books. The goals was to read 6 Big Books (more than 500 pages) this year. I was able to read 4! I am going to continue to challenge myself with this in 2021. Like half of my owned books are chunkers.

This stat also makes me a little sad. The fact that I have so many books on my shelves at home that I didn’t get to this year. I listened to so many audiobooks this year. And Kindle Unlimited has added to my borrowing of books that are not on my shelves.

I feel like my reading taste continued to change a little this year. I’ve been more drawn to the romance category, mainly I think because they are quick read for me and that’s what I needed with the way the world was. I wish I had read more fantasy. I hope to diversity my reading next year in all ways, but also in genres I read.

2020 reading stats

This was shocking to me. I read so many more adult books than I ever have before. It is all due to the increase of romance books this year. Does this mean there is a shift in my reading?

2020 reading stats

I would still love to see 1000 pages on this next year, like I had hope last year.

2020 reading stats

I am happy that again I am skewed more towards the right. I read so many more 5 star reads then in previous years! There were not many books I read this year that were low ratings.

2020 reading stats

I did not read nearly enough backlist books and those from my TBR that I wanted to read this year. I was surprised at how many 2020 releases I read. I am usually pretty bad and keeping up with new releases so that was fun to see!

2020 reading stats

With nothing else to do this year as 2020 was what it was, I read a lot of books and more per month than previous years. For the most part it was pretty consistent but had a few stand out months!

Some are missing that I had included in previous years but that was because I did a bad time tracking. I am some plans for some fun new things to include in 2021!

Did you keep track of any of your reading stats? How many books did you read overall this year?

  1. I just love the way you lay out your stats! Every year I swear I am going to keep better track of mine so I can do the same and then…..I don’t. How do you track your reading? Any tips or tricks you are willing to share would be so appreciated!

    Happy New Year!
