imagesTHE WEDDING BY NICHOLAS SPARKS

Genre: Adult, Romance

Series: The Notebook

“But love, I’ve come to understand, is more than three words mumbled before bedtime. Love is sustained by action, a pattern of devotion in the things we do for each other every day.”
– Nicholas Sparks, The Wedding

Synopsis:
After thirty years of marriage, Wilson Lewis, son-in-law of Allie and Noah Calhoun (of The Notebook), is forced to admit that the romance has gone out of his marriage. Desperate to win back his wife, Jane’s, heart, he must figure out how to make her fall in love with him… again. Despite the shining example of Allie and Noah’s marriage, Wilson is himself a man unable to easily express his emotions. A successful estate attorney, he has provided well for his family, but now, with his daughter’s upcoming wedding, he is forced to face the fact that he and Jane have grown apart and he wonders if she even loves him anymore. Wilson is sure of one thing–his love for his wife has only deepened and intensified over the years. Now, with the memories of his in-laws’ magnificent fifty-year love affair as his guide, Wilson struggles to find his way back into the heart of the woman he adores.[Goodreads]

It has been a long time since I first read The Notebook. I absolutely loved The Notebook and fell in love with everything that Nicolas Sparks wrote. Since it has been awhile I knew I had to read another book by him.

When picking up a Nicolas Sparks book you know there is bound to be love story or some horribly heart breaking material. This book was no exception. The beginning of the book was a little difficult for me to get through because I had a hard time connecting with the main character, Wilson. He was recounting and going through the memories of his life with his wife, Jane and about being a parent, etc. I felt like there was a lot of repetition towards the first half of the book.

The love story was beautiful and breathtaking. The Wedding is ultimately a story of the loss of love and rekindling and rediscovering the love that once was. After about halfway through the book I finally was pulled in and could not put the book down. The romantic gestures and lengths in which were gone to in order to prove Wilson’s love for his wife took me right back to those moments in which I fell in love with Noah Calhoun in The Notebook. And of course Noah made an appearance in this book and was still as romantic as ever. Nicholas Sparks sure knows his way around the romantic department. There were so many swoony moments that just made me unable to stop smiling.

Overall this book pulls at the heartstrings and depicts the beautiful love story of a couple falling in love and over many years being able to rekindle that love and fall in love all over again. Its heavy on the romance and sets up all men in my future to have a lot to live up to!
