In the past couple of years I have been putting together a Top 5 post for new releases as an end of year wrap up. (Check out the Top 5 2019 Releases I read!)I like to spilt up my top books of the year into backlist and new releases so that it better showcases the books I adored! If I didn’t do that I would be afraid new releases would overshadow all others I read. Since I read so many books this year, in particular so many romance books and adult books, it only seemed to make sense to also split up the top new releases! Overall this was such a great year for reading and I could not narrow down my top new releases to just 5! Therefore here is my Top 5 Adult 2020 Releases!
In no particular order….
*also I have 8 days left in the month so this does not reflect any books I complete after the post date.*
Top 5 2020 Adult Releases
Deal With The Devil by Kit Rocha
” Her kiss was as bold as she was, fearless and intense, hot enough to pull a man under and make him beg to keep drowning.”
Post Apocalyptic romance with tons of action, banter and unexpected twists!
Deal With The Devil is based in a post-apocalyptic world that is really run and controlled by biochemically enhanced individuals who work for a Tech company. A group of mercenary librarians and rogue soldiers come together for a mission full of secrets, lies, romance and rebellion. I was completely shocked and blown away by this book. With all of the action, scheming and missions, I was on the edge of my seat the whole time.
“Change often starts with the smallest of whispers. Like-minded people building it up to a roar.”
This book melted my icy heart. It reminded me of my favorite Scooby-Doo episode, Ghoul School! There were so many amazing characters, full of personalities you just couldn’t help but fall in love with! It is about a orphanage with magical youth, they are suppose to be the worst ones, but they were hilarious and had big dreams and just wanted love and acceptance! The romance was subtle but beautiful to see unfold. It came with some great messages and was just overall a joyful read!
The Blood King by Abigail Owen
” The fire rose from her skin, surrounding her, forming intricate shapes, like flamingo wings, joined to the lines across her skin. The mark of a phoenix.
An astounding second book in a hot, must read paranormal romance series. The Blood King is a steamy, action packed romance story filled with sass, dragon politics, epic battles and bad assery! There is nothing better than a feisty heroine who can handle herself paired with an arrogant and gruff dragon king hero!
“Every house has a story. Ours is a ghost story. It’s also a lie. And now that yet another person has died within these walls, it’s finally time to tell the truth.”
This had everything I would want from a haunted house story. Sager had me guessing the whole time, just when I thought I knew what was going on, I was mistaken. It gave me chills and double checking my doors were locked at night. I loved the unreliable narrator. This book did not disappoint and Sager continues to surprise me.
Alien Boyfriend for Christmas by Luna Kingsley
A surprising selection, I know, but it was just such a fun, entertaining and great read! This was such a fun fake dating romance with a virgin alien hero! We got to learn about another planet, which was fun! Isabel is going back to Earth for the holidays and was suppose to bring home a “boyfriend” to show she is over her ex. Her friend that was suppose to go with her is no longer approved to leave the planet so she pays Verrik, who is an alien, to go with her. We get Christmas/holiday traditions, family drama, and an adorable relationship! They were adorable together and it was super steamy!
Honorable Mention
What are some of your top 2020 releases? Have you read any of my Top 5 2020 Adult Releases?
The house in the cerulean sea is definitely one of my favourites! I loved the subtle romance and how shy the characters were about expressing their feelings. It was really sweet.
