Top 5 2021 Young Adult Releases

In the past couple of years I have been putting together a Top 5 post for new releases. (Check out the Top 5 2020 Releases I read!) I like to spilt up my top books of the year into backlist and new releases so that it better showcases the books I adored!  Since I read so many books this year, in particular so many romance books and adult books, it only seemed to make sense to also split up the top new releases! Overall this was such a great year for reading and I could not narrow down my top new releases to just 5! Therefore here is my Top 5 2021 Young Adult Releases!

In no particular order….

Top 5 2021 Young Adult Releases

Crown of Bones by A.K Wilder

“Wars are won in the will, not the weapons.”

A debt fantasy story told in multiple POVs that has all those things a great fantasy is made of! It is an adventure following a cast of characters you can’t help but to love that have big personalities providing all the banter and humor you need . An immersive world and story that has friendship, romance, a unique magic system/lore and epic fight scenes!

Ember of Night by Molly E. Lee

“Just because something is damaged doesn’t mean it isn’t beautiful. All things have value. Don’t let anyone tell you differently.”

This book! It had all the things I adore in books: Great banter/humor, so much personality and all of the pop culture references! It was also full of emotions and I was not prepared for how dark and deep some of the topics were covered in this book. There were so many great relationships, my favorite being that between Harley and Ray! This gave me JLA and Richelle Mead type vibes!

She Drives Me Crazy by Kelly Quindlen

“Because before you can worry about who’s in your passenger seat, you have to learn to drive yourself.”

This great book gave me all that I love from those early 90s rom com  movies, filled with all the 80s references! It was like a more intense and queer TATBILB. I adored the enemies to lovers sapphic romance. They each had their own problems to work though that really added to the storyline. Also all the side character were fantastic! They were all so supportive of each other!

Covet by Tracy Wolff

“Actions have consequences. Mistakes get made. Hearts get broken.”

As if I needed any more reason to love this series! This was filled with action, emotions and all the amazing personalities of the characters! It continued to support my love of Hudson! Wolff continues to build the world and we get to see more and more of what is happening and the full picture. There was so much detail and thought put into everything. I can’t wait to see where the end of this series goes. And to get more of Remy!

Be Dazzled by Ryan La Sala

“Some kids do drugs. Some kids start fires. I embroider in the dead of night, for the attention of strangers.”

All the nerdy, gay goodness you need in your life!

This story was able to pack such a punch with all of the emotions. It was an adorable look into the world of cosplay, the inner workings of a gay boy who enjoys making costumes with a mom who doesn’t believe that is real art and a cute bisexual love interest who is hiding his true self. We also got some really fun side characters who are immersed into the cosplay world as well!

Honorable Mention
