Top 5 Backlist Reads 2022

I started doing this a couple of years ago to really showcase the top books I read of the year. If you missed it, check out the books that made my Top 5 Backlist Reads in 2021. It makes more sense to split it out by backlist books and new releases! I own so many books and so it is always a goal to read the books I own! I read so many great books this year and it was hard narrowing down the list. But here are the Top 5 Backlist Reads 2022!

In no particular order…

Top 5 Backlist Reads 2022

The Girl In Red by Christina Henry

“One thing Red had learned from years of reading and movie watching was that people were far scarier than any disease or zombie or alien or face-eating monster.”

A post apocolyptic retelling of Little Red Riding Hood that had a nice horror element and surprising twist. Red was so badass and too smart for her own good. This book gave a slight look at how the world has been in the past few years.

The Grace Year by Kim Liggett

“You eyes are wide open, but you see nothing.”

Major Handmaid Tales vibes. This was such an intriguing story (as well as a little scary) full of emotions. The dystopian world, forbidden romance and strong FMC definitely made for a fast paced read. And that ending!

Saga Volume 1 by Brian K Vaughn

“Violence is stupid. Even as a last resort, it only ever begets more of the same.”

I have a hard time getting into graphic novels, but I flew through this one. I loved it so much and it was filled with action and humor! I don’t know why I waited so long to pick this one up!

All Our Hidden Gifts by Caroline O'Donoghue

I was captivated by the cover of this book and drawn in by the synopsis. And I was not at all disappointed. I am a fan of tarot cards and loved that this story included them and used them throughout. It had me out loud laughing so many times. It had some queer representation and some relationships I really loved seeing develop.

Emperor Mage & The Realms of the Gods by Tamora Pierce

“Scary with you is better than scary without you”

Of course these had to make the list and I couldn’t choose one out of the two. I adore Pierce’s writing, world and characters! Especially since they are some of my best friends favorites. These are book 3&4 of the Immortals series. Daine is so much fun to follow along with her gang of characters. Also I was so shocked but in love with the ending!
