Dragonwatch

Wrath of the Dragon King

Master of the Phantom Isle

Synopsis:

As the war with the dragons intensifies, all eyes are turning to Titan Valley for help. A dragon sanctuary unlike any of the others, this one is home to enslaved dragons ruled by the powerful Giant Queen, one of the five monarchs of the magical world. In addition, it houses the arena for the Titan Games, a series of gladiator-style battles presided over by none other than Humbuggle, the demon who stole Seth’s memories!

Seth is seeking for his memories. Kendra is seeking for Seth. And everyone is seeking to stop the dragons from taking over the world—everyone but Ronodin, the dark unicorn, who has his own devious agenda. In the monstrous battle between giants and dragons, who wins? In the race to retrieve a magical talisman that could help win the war, can Kendra trust Seth? Will they find the answers they desperately need in a realm of trolls and titans? Or are more betrayals imminent?

Mull does not disappoint in this continuation of the Dragonwatch series. The fun adventurous journey continues as Seth tries to find his memories and Kendra and friends try to save the magical world.

Mull is such a mastermind at weaving all of the books together as well as the overall storyline. Throughout this book we are following the two separate groups and I loved going back and forth as the path slowly crossed. It was full of surprises and took it in directions I was not expecting. I loved getting to continue to learn more about this world Mull has been building since Fablehaven. It is so magical, a little dangerous and done in such great details. I felt like I was there while reading the book. It is amazing how creative Mull is and all the fun elements he includes.

We finally get to learn more about the giants as well as more about Humbuggle’s games. The gladiator style game was an interesting element and such an interesting reveal. We also got to learn more about Tessa and Knox and glad they had more of a role in this book. And of course some of the favorites are still there, Vanessa, Warren, Tanu and the Satyrs!

Overall I thought this was a fantastic addition to the series. Mull writes amazing & adventurous books that are perfect for middle grade and young adult age. But as an adult I can say they are such enjoyable and fun reads. Just when I think I know what is going to happen or how it is going to end, Mull completely shocks me. This series is so magical while still dealing with some  darker, heavier topics. They are such fast reads for being thick books, but once you start you just cannot put it down! I am going to be so sad when this series is completed.

*Disclaimer: I know this review is not helpful at all other than to tell you I really like it! Its so hard to write reviews for sequels because I didn’t want to give too much away.*
