New Year Bookish Goal Planning | 2020

New Year Bookish Goal Planning

Here goes year 6 doing this, New Year Bookish Goal Planning! I did pretty well with my 2019 Bookish Bucket List last year! I want to be more intentional with my goals this year. Creating more achievable goals and ones that will help with my bookish/blogging growth as well. I am setting myself both blogging , social media and reading goals this year all in one list instead of dividing them into separate ones. I’m really trying to challenge myself this year and focus on being a blogger and a reader.

Bookish Bucket List 2020

Read at least 65 books

In 2019 I was able to read a total of 80 books, which was 30 more than my goal of 50 books! I did not want to set a crazy high goal this year because I want to tackle books that have sat on my shelves forever and those big intimidating books. Look for a post soon about the 20 books I’m hoping to read in 2020.

Complete 10 Series

I have been struggling with this the past couple of years. I was able to complete (or to publication) 6 Series in 2019 out of the 10 I hoped. I really want to make this a main focus. There are so many series I own and haven’t even read book 1. I also have so many series I have started and haven’t completed. Some of those are going to cause me to do some rereads, but I need to make this a priority. Look soon for a post about the series I hope to read!

Spend 2 Hours A Week Engaging on Social Media

This should be a super easy goal to accomplish in theory. I spend a ton of time on social media every day. I want to spend time in 2020 engaging and interacting with those in the book community on social media. Making sure to comment on blog posts and instagram pictures. Usually my time scrolling the internet I am just liking post but never communicating with those content creators.

Read at least 5 BIG Books

{I am counting a Big Book as being over 500 pages}

This is another goal I have had the past few years, and something I have not accomplished. I need to stop letting the large size and the amount of time it will take me to read them, intimidate me. I am so drawn to buying the big books at the store and have loved the ones I have taken the time to read. I’m hoping with my new found audiobook obsession, this will be easier to accomplish and motivate me. I will have a post coming soon with those Big Books I am hoping to get to in 2020.

Limit My Book Buying

Last year I had a goal of read 3, buy 1. I epically failed at that since I got over 150 books in 2019 and only read 80. One of my personal goals is to work on my budget and save more money so this connects to that one. As well as the fact that I have over 300+ unread books on my TBR.

Work On My Blog Content

This is quite the vague goal, but I do not want to make such detailed, specific goals that I am unable to obtain them. I have grown my blog following a little bit of the last year, but my yearly views was down.

  • I want to work on updating all of my old posts, since I switched to self-hosted at the end of 2018 and some of my posts are messed up with broken links.
  • Make sure I write reviews for all 2020 releases and series wrap ups
  • Develop new and creative content
  • Work and learn more about SEO and traffic driven posting

Tackle My TBR

My TBR has gotten a little bit crazy. With over 300+ unread books on my book shelves, I want to get that number down greatly. I want to make sure I am reading books that I own or start unhauling some books I do not believe I am interested in anymore. I’m hoping to now buy as many books this year too so that should also help.

Read At Least 15 Underrated Books

{ I am going to base this on those books that have less than 5,000 ratings on Goodreads}

I created a goal last year of 12 underrated books I wanted to read in 2019. I kind of forgot about it and did not read any of them. I find that a lot of times there are books that are so hyped in the book community that cause me to want to read them. This past year I was quite disappointed with some of those books I picked up. I think sometimes with a book that is so hyped or talked about so much, I just get annoyed with it. I love the feeling of discovering a hidden gem and being able to share and gush about a book that not many people talk about. I will be creating a different list for 2020, some will be the same, but there will be some new ones as well.

Post on Instagram 3 Times A Week

Some times I am very good at posting every day and other times it is about a week between posts. There are tons of tools to schedule insta posts. I want to focus on taking good quality pictures and making sure to be sharing content!

Read 6 of My Best Friend’s Recommendations

There will be a post coming out about this soon! This goal goes along with my underrated goal, of wanting to discover new books. One of my besties is also a reader. She reads a lot of different books from me and ones that are typically not talked about much in the book community. I want to work on broadening my reading and thought it would be fun to be able to read some of her favorites so we can chat about them!
