Claimed in Orbit by Brianna Everly Book Review

If you love a good alien abduction story that includes a possessive virgin alien, a home in space and a feisty tease of a human female this is one you have to check out!

Claimed in Orbit is a dual POV of Dawna, a female who lives in Chicago, plays roller derby, loves her sister and wanted to be a midwife and Sylas, a large male Olmi alien who is the commander of the warriors and is trying to save his people from the evil Ghet aliens that destroyed his planet and killed his family.

I loved the premise that the US was being brought into the galactic society, but wished we would have learned more about it. When the Olmi show up to take willing participants , Dawna finds herself in an unlikely situation to save her sister. Little did she know that the Olmi aliens have a thing called fralight, which is like a mate bond and a connection has been fated between her and a big sexy alien.

Dawna and Sylas’s relationship was so much fun! I loved the undeniable pull that Dawna fought, or at least tried to fight and was such a feisty tease that had too much fun playing with the virgin hero. Although Dawna can’t decide what she is going to do and pushes Sylas away he does everything in his power to protect her and make sure she is happy, even if that means losing her. The totality connection was also an interesting addition to the world and relationship.

I do wish that there was more time spent on the biocylinder that they are brought to, we get brief snapshots of it but it felt very vague. I was so captivated at the beginning and the middle of the book just lost me. The plot points were just rushed and passed over. The ending saved it a little it brought the action and suspense, but also all just felt to0 easy. I never felt like there were real stakes.

Overall, Claimed in Orbit was a fast read and interesting setup for a series. At times it felt like it had some inspiration from IPB, which I enjoyed. The relationship development was instalusty/lovey but that is to be expected in fated mates. It did take time for Dawna to come around which I appreciated and there was tension with the teasing and will they won’t they going on. If you are looking to dive into the world of alien romances I feel like this is a good place to start, nothing too crazy, some spiciness and action all set in outer space and space adjacent!
