8 Tips From My Recent Bookish Successes

Recently a few things have happened revolving bookish things that I am extremely proud of and wanted to share. I don’t want this to come off braggy, but I am excited about them. And who better to share them with than the book community. I also figured that some of the things I’ve learned might be helpful to those in the community. Those who feel like they are constantly hitting a wall. I’ve been there. Trying so hard and putting in so much work to my blog and social media presence and feeling like it is all for nothing. At times it is so hard to see booktubers (mainly) get showered with ARCs and opportunities. So here are some of my recent successes and how they came about.

Featured Interview in Shelf Unbound

This is something I could have never imagined ever happening. When I was first contacted I thought it was a scam. I am so incredibly honored to be given the opportunity and featured in this online book magazine, Shelf Unbound.

This past February was the first year in Fierce Female Reads February. It was more than I ever thought it would be. I am so thankful to all of those who participated and provided content. Blogging for the past 5 years, I have tried multiple times to host my own readathons or bookish events. None ever resulted in much success. The idea just came to me, I do not quite remember how/when, but I posted about my idea on twitter. There was an outpouring of interest and some amazing post came from it! The rest is history! Check it out and if you are interested in participating Feb 2020 let me know!

Tip #1: Write down all of your ideas (even if they seem dumb or not thought out fully). And keep trying until you find what works!

Tip #2: Reach out to those in the bookish community! They will be your biggest supporters! As well as support those in the community!

Brand Ambassador & Affiliate

In the past year I have gotten the opportunity to be both a Brand Ambassador for The Book Drop and more recently I am a Affiliate for YA BOTM! Most times those in the book community with smaller followings are not given as many opportunities like this. I spend a lot of time on twitter and instagram. I always apply for opportunities because you never know. Most times I never hear back but on the rare occasion an awesome opportunity like these find you!

Tip #3: Always apply or make the request regardless if you think you will be selected or not!

Tip #4: Keep your eyes open for opportunities on social media.

Increase in Instagram Following

This is something that I am still working on and trying to improve constantly. Over the past few months this number has almost doubled. Even though it is still quite small, it is growing which is the move in the right direction. A lot of this comes from following others and interacting on their posts. It also comes from becoming a part of a bookish community, booksharks! This is a group on Facebook for those in the bookish community. Being a part of booksharks gives the opportunity for blog tours, ARCs and making new friends in the book community. They have a follow friday, which is how I discovered so many awesome bookstagrammers and gained new followers. Through this group I have also been given bookstagram worksheets to determine how to make my bookstagram a better version and representation of me!

Tip #5 : Join bookish social media groups and interact regularly !

Tip #6: Learn from others. Look at what works for those blogs or instagrams you love and make note of things that are working for them.

Tip #7: Do research, Pintrest is a great spot for this. Many people have come before us sharing their successes and things that work for them. It is different for everyone so look around and find tips and tricks that might work for you

Tip #8 : It takes time, consistency and passion. Figure out who you are doing it for and why. Never give up!

  1. I’ve been debating making a bookstagram account, and everyone has randomly been posting advice about it. I feel like this is a sign.

        1. There is definitely a ton of planning, experimenting and research that goes into it, but its also fun!
