With it being PRIDE Month, I thought I should finally get around to putting together another Pride Month Book Recommendations ( check out my post from last year LGBTQIA+ Book Recommendations)! There have been so many queer books coming out lately and it makes me so happy and excited! I will caveat this with I understand these books don’t reflect great diversity with the MC, but a few of these are filled with an array of queer characters. I’ll share that being bisexual, I do find myself drawn to reads with bi characters as well as books with f/f romances because it is a way for me to see characters that reflect similarities to me.
I am working on being better in diversifying my queer reads as well as my reading in general. I have a whole LGBTQIA+ TBR that I am working my way through and hoping to add more to this list very soon!
Pride Month Book Recommendations
Some Girls Do by Jennifer Dugan
There was so much packed into this recent YA Queer Contemporary Romance. It was a F/F with an out and proud lesbian track star who recently got kicked out her catholic school because of her sexual identity and a questioning beauty queen with a love of cars and fixing them! It dealt with coming out and the issues that can come from that with relationships, family, friends, schools etc. It had multiple queer side characters who were a part of a pride club and volunteered at a LGBTQ center.
Being Hospitable by Meka James
This was a short sexy sapphic novella. Kiki allows her best friends littler sister Charley move in with her for the duration of her internship. You have forced proximity, stolen glances and black love! Since its so short there isn’t much else to say, but its a must read for the steam!
Wicked Villain Series by Katee Robert
I have so far read 3 of these and I am currently reading the 4th one and there is just so much steamy, hot queerness! There is F/F, M/M, MMF,FFM, MMMFF etc! These are shorter romance stories that are sexy retellings of Disney characters. Its such a fun twist on the characters and an urban fantasy take with territories that have a “mob” type feel, a bdsm sex club and so much sex!
Across the Green Grass Field by Seanan McGuire
This is the sixth book in the series, but can be a starting place/read as a stand alone. This series is also filled with great queer rep! But in this one Regan is an intersex character who ends up in an equines world. We are introduced to Regan as a child who is judged for being different and feels different as well so she talks to her parents. She enters the world of the Hooflands where she continues to grow and learn more about herself and become comfortable in who she is as a person.
Be Dazzled by Ryan La Sala
All the nerdy, gay goodness you need in your life! This story was able to pack such a punch with all of the emotions. It was an adorable look into the world of cosplay, the inner workings of a gay boy who enjoys making costumes with a mom who doesn’t believe that is real art and a cute bisexual love interest who is hiding his true self.

Behind Closed Doors by Anna Stone
F/F Office Romance! You have the ice queen lawyer and the new to town legal assistant. There was a dom/sub type of relationship but not hardcore. It showed some strong women working in a “mans” world. There was a tad of mystery a relationship that I loved and it was super sexy!
Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas
There was so much I adored about this book! Yadriel is trans and trying to navigate family tradition of becoming a brujo when his father doesn’t see him for who he is. It was filled with wonderful Latinx culture! I loved getting to learn more about dio de los muertos. The magic and world were so unique. It has romance, humor, magic and of course queer rep!
You Should See Me In A Crown by Leah Johnson
This is a book I just want to squeeze! It was just so cute, adorable and absolutely joyful! This f/f relationship was too perfect! The book did cover some hard topics and I felt like Johnson did a fabulous job covering those topics while not making it overly sad or dark. It has me gushing and smiling the whole time. Liz was such a wonderful character and her development was so well done. It was full of a variety of side characters and has you rooting for that underdog! Just an overall cute and joy filled read!
The Stars and the Blackness Between Them by Junauda Petrus
This story was so beautiful and heartbreaking. I adored the sapphic romance and how character driven the story was. You really get an in-depth look into their lives and them figuring out their identities and life. There were also many fantastic side characters, Queenie being one of my favs! The prose and poetry were epically delicious!
The Black Flamingo by Dean Atta
WOW! This story was a charming Drag Queen origin story. Michael was such an inspiring character. The book was full of uniqueness and of Michael discovering himself as the book covers his life from youth to adulthood. Its all about trusting your inner truth and embracing it. There was so much queer representation. Atta’s writing was so lyrical and strong.
Have you read any of these books? What are some of your Pride Month Book Recommendations?
